History

Ice Phoenix's Tribulation

The Far North was originally ruled by the million-year Ice Phoenix, regarded by Snow Emperor and Ice Emperor as its Overlord. His bloodline could suppress the two rulers, who both feared and respected him. 1

A World-Extinguishing Purple Lightning tribulation descended over the region when the Ice Phoenix attempted to transform into a human. The collision between the heavenly lightning and his Ice Phoenix phantom devastated nearby snow peaks, while interference from the God Realm left him heavily injured and regressed into an infant. 1

Snow Emperor and Ice Emperor discovered the transformed Ice Phoenix, Xue Tianyu, in the resulting crater and raised him within the Far North. 2 5

Xue Tianyu's Return to Power

At six years old, Xue Tianyu awakened the Ice Phoenix and Ice Heaven Snow Lotus as twin Martial Souls, manifesting Innate Full Soul Power and a self-condensed ten-thousand-year first soul ring. Snow Emperor and Ice Emperor viewed his awakening as the beginning of his eventual return to rule the Far North. 5

His frost power overwhelmed even Ice Emperor's ice defenses during a restrained spar, and the cold energy left in her body could not be expelled through her own soul power. 6 7

After reaching Soul King level by age twelve, Xue Tianyu left the Far North to pursue further growth. A ten-thousand-year Frost Giant Bear fled in terror when he returned to Skywater Academy's group at the frontier. 8 13

Submission and the Spatial Rift

Snow Emperor later traveled to Martial Soul City to report unrest among the Far North's soul beasts and the appearance of a spatial rift. There, she formally declared that the Far North would serve Xue Tianyu as its master. 45

Xue Tianyu returned to the core circle to undergo another Heavenly Tribulation in the Ice and Snow Temple. After absorbing the remnants of the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings, he survived the tribulation and gained greatly increased power. 50 51

Ice Snow Sect Rule

Xue Tianyu established the Ice Snow Sect to expand the Far North's influence across the continent. Its headquarters was built in the Sky Snow Mountains from ten-thousand-year profound ice, with Snow Emperor and Ice Emperor standing at his side. 52 53

Following the destruction of the Clear Sky Sect and Slaughter City, Xue Tianyu entered seclusion in the Extreme Cold Abyss. His breakthrough to Rank 99 caused ice and snow from across the Far North to converge on the abyss and released pressure felt throughout the continent. 54 56 61

The Ice Snow Sect then summoned the continent's major powers to the Far North. Pilgrims were forced to ascend a staircase of ten-thousand-year mystical ice from Extreme Cold Town without using Soul Power; disobedience was punishable by death. 62 67

At the unification ceremony, Xue Tianyu declared the Ice Snow Sect the sole ruler of the Douluo Continent. 68

Later Era

Five years after the unification ceremony, the Far North had become a peaceful and stable center of Xue Tianyu's rule. Snow Emperor stated that the region, once marked by soul beasts fighting for survival, had become the continent's most peaceful paradise. 68 69
