Background / History

Boer inherited his family clinic in Masta City before turning twenty. His father had died after containing a plague, leaving Boer with a limited but respected medical inheritance: herbalism, basic treatment of fevers and wounds, bandaging, bleeding control, and simple styptics. He carefully documented patients and rejected the belief that disease was divine punishment, instead treating it as a solvable problem within the body. 64

He received an acceptance letter from the Wizard Tower through Bikeda, a Wind Crow whose violent delivery introduced Boer to the existence of magic beasts and supernatural power. Seeing wizardry as a path to understand the human body, command natural elements, and cure diseases, Boer chose to leave his clinic and become an apprentice. 65

Boer sold his family valuables for travel funds and boarded the alchemical ship Eternity with his research materials and tools. During the voyage, his initial prejudice against Beastmen diminished as he befriended the Pigman apprentice Uruk. 66 67

After five years at the Wizard Tower, Boer returned to Masta City as a wizard and established a clinic. He treated patients using his advanced knowledge, trained medical apprentices, and wrote the Kremo Medical Codex, which spread medical methods throughout the human realms and became revered by physicians. 91 107

Appearance

Boer is described as delicate and scholarly in contrast to more conventionally imposing men. He commonly wears wizard or scholar robes and glasses; even in old age, his Level 4 advancement leaves his appearance largely unchanged. 91 92 151 152

  • Often wears specialized alchemical glasses. 91
  • Wore a blue robe and black-rimmed glasses in later life. 152
  • His Eagle Demon bloodline manifests as black feathers, scales, talons, and wings before he returns to human form. 108 109
  • Was nearly eighty years old when he reached Level 4. 151

Personality

Boer is cautious, rational, optimistic, orderly, and reluctant to pursue quick success. Lu Zhiyu considers these qualities preferable to Lewis's recklessness, though he also notes that Boer can be overly bound by rules and unwilling to gamble on uncertain outcomes. 106

His commitment to medicine is rooted in observation and evidence rather than religious explanations. He is willing to assume personal risk for research, however: despite warnings from Catherine and other mentors, he made himself the first human subject of his bloodline-transplant experiment. 64 108

Boer treats colleagues fairly and earned the loyalty of the Wizard Tower's mentors. His mercy also has limits; after discovering that Adnos Monar used living humans in experiments, Boer expelled him from the Tower. 108 155

Abilities & Skills

Medicine and Anatomy

Boer is an exceptional physician whose research transformed medical practice across the continent.

  • Diagnoses and treats illness through anatomical investigation rather than superstition. 64
  • Operated clinics, trained medical apprentices, and promoted large-scale medical practice. 91 107
  • Authored the Kremo Medical Codex, regarded as a medical bible by doctors. 91 107
  • His work was influential enough that doctors in Beastmen territories knew his name. 107

Wizardry and Research

As a Wizard Tower graduate and later acting Tower Master, Boer conducts magical, botanical, and biological research.

  • Studied and catalogued the properties of plants for medicines, potions, and spellcasting materials. 92
  • Helped compile the Plant Compendium, Animal Compendium, and Magic Beast Compendium. 107
  • Could use mental power for slow flight alongside other low-level wizards. 108
  • Managed the Wizard Tower's tenth- and eleventh-floor laboratories as acting Tower Master. 106

Bloodline Sorcery

Boer discovered that magic beasts' supernatural powers stem from specialized organs and their Deified Cell structures. His research created Bloodline Sorcery, a major wizard lineage. 107 109

  • Bloodline Wizards transplant and synchronize with magic-beast spellcasting organs. 109
  • The method allows low-tier wizards to wield basic supernatural abilities without relying entirely on external spellcasting media. 109
  • Research carries severe risks: failed transplants had over a fifty-percent mortality rate, while survivors could become monstrous. 108

Two-Headed Eagle Demon Bloodline

Boer fused with the heart of a Two-Headed Eagle Demon after personally hunting and capturing the creature with Uruk and Wofte. 108 109

  • Possesses powerful cellular regeneration; his surgical wound healed during the transformation. 108
  • Can transform into a half-man, half-eagle form with feathers, scales, talons, and wings. 108
  • Can fly in his transformed state. 108
  • The bloodline's regenerative capacity makes dangerous Body Modification Technique procedures more viable. 109

Relationships

  • Lu Zhiyu — Teacher and Tower Master who appointed Boer acting Tower Master, entrusting him to guide wizardry differently from Lewis. 106
  • Uruk — Pigman friend, fellow apprentice, research partner, and surgical assistant during Boer's bloodline transplant. 67 108 109
  • Catherine — Fellow apprentice and mentor who rejected Boer's confession, viewing him as an older brother; later opposed his reckless self-experimentation out of concern. 91 108
  • Bikeda — Wind Crow who delivered Boer's Wizard Tower acceptance letter and accompanied him to the Eternity. 65 66
  • Lewis — Fellow apprentice whose actions Boer failed to stop; Boer accepted responsibility for the deaths that followed. 106
  • Wofte — Wizard colleague who helped hunt and capture the Two-Headed Eagle Demon. 108
  • Edward — Boer's disciple, who accompanied him to investigate the aftermath of the Battle of Deepus Grand Canyon. 187
  • Adnos Monar — Former student whom Boer considered a possible successor before expelling him for experimenting on living humans. 155
