Forest Kingdom, Westland City.
This was a port city with an excellent deep-water harbor. A great number of seafaring sailing ships were moored at the docks not far away.
Two of the kingdom's five renowned shipyards were located here.
Outside the city, large numbers of cargo wagons traveled the roads leading to other places every day.
In a township near the city, the piercing cry of a baby suddenly rang out from inside a house.
"May Mother Nature bless them—mother and child are safe..."
Outside, a craftsman dressed in grimy work clothes, his body blackened with soot, prayed devoutly without stop.
Soon afterward, he saw the village midwife emerge with a baby in her arms. "It's a girl. Give her a name."
"Hmm... I decided long ago. If it was a girl, she'd be called Jenny! Jenny Black!"

Besides forging iron and repairing farm tools, he could make simple machinery and even repair clocks. He was quite well-known in the surrounding area, and the family earned a decent income.
After all, a child who went hungry could not grow that tall or run that fast.
