"According to divination, as well as several 'mysterious items' held by the Federation... the discovery aboard the Star of Hope is connected to Target One!"
On the helicopter, Baird swiftly accepted a confidential document.
"Your mission is to ensure the safety of the researchers and bring the discovery back intact."
A man in black said sternly, "The Federation will assign you a team of Beyonders under your command."
"I understand."
Baird took a deep breath, indicating that he fully understood.
Although he did not think highly of divination, a mission was a mission, and it had to be completed.
Meanwhile, aboard the Star of Hope.
The female diver Shana carried a tray holding sandwiches and coffee as she knocked on Scholar Haren's door.
Ever since obtaining those photographs and clay tablets, the scholar had been completely absorbed in his research. He had locked himself in his room for an entire day and night, which was truly worrying.
Knock knock!
Knock knock!
The knocking continued, but there was no response from Haren.
"This... something's happened."
Shana disregarded everything else and released her Inspiration, probing beyond the door.
The next second.
She sensed terrifying darkness, carrying the scouring weight of history and time, surging toward her and making her whole body tremble.
"Someone!"
Her shrill cry tore through the silence.
Moments later, several sailors arrived and smashed open Haren's bedroom door with fire axes.
Bang!
The bedroom door was broken down, and the stench of blood rushed out.
"This is bad."
The sailors held hunting rifles as they cautiously entered the room.
They saw a pool of dark-red blood on the floor. They saw Scholar Haren sitting in a chair, with a revolver in his mouth.
The wall behind him was splattered with red, white, and black stains.
"Urgh..."
