Chapter 15 Data
Opening his eyes, Xiang Kun glanced at his phone:
July 25, 10:27 PM.
He recalled that before falling asleep last night, he had already been somewhat delirious and had forgotten to start the stopwatch.
However, he still vaguely remembered that the last time he checked the time, it was around 8:50-something PM, so the time he fell asleep should have been just past 9:00.
The first time he drank chicken blood and fell asleep, Xiang Kun hadn't tracked the time specifically, but he knew it was roughly 27 hours. The second time, he had set a timer before sleeping, which clocked in at 25 hours and 17 minutes.
This time, it looked to be about the same duration, just over 25 hours.
The first time was an anomaly, so he could temporarily exclude it from his sample. Since the last two times were basically identical, he could draw a conclusion: after drinking blood, he required at least 25 hours of deep sleep, essentially losing an entire day.
Xiang Kun decided that for his next sleep, he would set an alarm to see if he could be forcibly woken up during the slumber.
He then began to examine the changes in his own body, starting with the three books he had propped up not far away—the ones he had been using to train his vision.
The lights in the room had been on the whole time, so there was no issue with lighting. After one glance, Xiang Kun got up and moved the books further back, stepping backward step by step until his back hit the wall.
Before the third blood-drinking session, his vision had already been better than an average person's, but at this distance, he certainly wouldn't have been able to see the words on the books clearly; even moving a bit closer would have been a struggle.
But now, every single word on the pages was crystal clear.
Furthermore, he knew that even if he moved the books another meter away, he would still be able to see them clearly.
Pulling back the curtains and opening the window to look at the nightscape outside, Xiang Kun felt as if the entire world had become sharper, as if he were viewing it in high resolution.
Without dwelling too much on the changes in his vision, Xiang Kun took off his clothes to weigh himself and measured the dimensions of his arms, thighs, and waist; all had increased significantly.
His weight had risen from 87.4kg last time to 91.7kg.
In fact, before drinking blood last night, he had weighed himself at 87.1kg, a slight decrease from his weight after the second blood-drinking session.
The rabbit blood he consumed, including a glass of water he drank later, totaled no more than 400g.
Judging by the growth in his muscle dimensions, it was clear that this weight gain was entirely muscle.
Xiang Kun then tested how long he could hold his breath, which had improved from his previous record of 8 minutes and 44 seconds before the third blood-drinking session to 11 minutes and 35 seconds.
In Xiang Kun's view, the vision and lung capacity he had focused on training over the past few days had both improved remarkably.
Of course, he couldn't yet confirm that these improvements were directly related to his training.
He still needed to go to the gym tomorrow to test the data on his left-arm curls—his right arm had originally been stronger than his left. If the physical changes were merely a comprehensive improvement in physical fitness after drinking blood, his right arm should still be stronger. But if his left arm showed a massive improvement, it would prove that his training during this period had a direct impact on the direction of his post-blood-drinking mutation.
He had been training only his left arm and completely neglecting his right for this very reason.
However, even without using gym equipment to test it, just by looking at the dimensions of his upper arm and his subjective feeling of strength, his left arm was already clearly stronger than his right.
After recording all the physical changes and data as usual, and taking photos for his archives, Xiang Kun looked at his own pictures with a slight frown. If he continued such high-intensity strength training at the gym, wouldn't his muscle mass increase too quickly?
There were often gym novices online who expressed concern before joining, saying, "I don't want to turn into a muscle freak; big muscles don't look good." Then, many gym veterans would inevitably reply with disdain and resignation that such muscles couldn't be built just like that—it required long-term, scientific, and systematic training, as well as a planned diet, supplements, and sometimes even steroids.
However, Xiang Kun was now truly facing this problem. Based on the changes in his physique after this blood-drinking session, if he continued this high-intensity strength training, he estimated that after a few more sessions, he would turn into a "muscle monster."
On one hand, such a drastic change in physique over a short period would easily attract unnecessary attention and speculation. On the other hand, excessive muscle mass would affect his agility. Therefore, it seemed he would need to change the direction and focus of his training.
After this blood-drinking session, Xiang Kun obtained several important pieces of data:
1. After drinking blood, it took about 6 days until he felt hungry again. Subtracting the 25 hours of deep sleep after drinking, that meant he had 5 days of uninterrupted activity between blood-drinking sessions. However, these were 5 days of 5x24 hours, as he didn't need to rest, sleep, or eat.
2. From the onset of hunger to losing control of his emotions and exhibiting erratic behavior, it took about 22 hours. However, looking back at the "reciting Tang poetry" recordings he started on the night of the 23rd, if hunger set in at night, he showed obvious, uncontrollable irritability starting from the 4th hour. If it were during the day, he could likely manage much better.
3. From the moment he felt sleepy after drinking blood to the point where he couldn't resist falling asleep, it took about an hour and a half.
He couldn't guarantee that this data would remain valid forever, but it at least provided a reference for him to prepare in advance.
Xiang Kun checked his phone and saw that after he replied to Tang Baona the night before last saying, "Sorry, I have something to do and can't make it," she had replied, "No worries, let's reschedule another time," followed by a pouting emoji.
Judging solely by the chat history, Xiang Kun clearly appeared cold and unapproachable. He figured that even if Tang Baona hadn't blocked him, she wouldn't take the initiative to contact him again.
However, it was too late to send a follow-up explanation now, and this result was what he had wanted anyway.
Thinking of that cute, beautiful, and cheerful girl, Xiang Kun sighed with a hint of regret.
He just didn't expect to run into Tang Baona at the gym the very next day.
At around 7:00 PM, as Xiang Kun was leaving the gym to head home, he bumped into Tang Baona right downstairs, who was arriving for her yoga class.
