Background / History
Dove grew up as a Catfolk Demi-Human in a low-status city district. Before entering Higher Academy, the rebel organization led by the Commander had secretly placed an undetectable Smart Chip in his brain. The chip helped him stand out academically and enabled rapid learning of languages, legal provisions, and other memorization-heavy knowledge. Dove maintained intermittent contact with the group, regarding the unseen Commander as a kindred spirit. 439 445
He left the city’s protected districts under the pretext of helping an illegal-clinic doctor rescue stray animals. In the abandoned outskirts, he encountered cyberpsychotic cyborgs, learned that the Commander’s organization had arranged the Smart Chip, and was told that Black Cat was likely connected to the Church’s God. He also defeated a fighting dog weighing over five hundred kilograms and took it home as a pet. 438 439
Dove’s admission to Higher Academy abruptly elevated his family’s social position. The Church soon declared him a noble before the academy’s normal selection process had even begun, placing him under Zhao Yiqing’s protection and granting him access to forbidden knowledge. 440 446 448
Appearance
Dove is a Catfolk youth with emerald-green eyes, black cat ears, sharp nails, and a black tail. 438 439 446
- His eyes and tail visibly tense when he perceives danger. 439
- Before acquiring Divine Gifts, he has the physical build and combat ability of an ordinary Law Enforcement Bureau soldier. 442 454
- His clone bodies can range from finger-sized independent bodies to microscopic particles dispersed through the environment. 456 469
Personality
Dove is cautious, observant, and difficult to manipulate. He distrusts easy kindness from both the Church and the rebels, recognizing that each faction values him for reasons beyond his apparent worth. 442 444
He approaches power analytically. When choosing Divine Gifts, he favors abilities with defined mechanics and broad utility over impressive but uncertain powers. He also rapidly reassesses the hierarchy of strength around him as he gains new information. 454 455
His pursuit of survival can become ruthless. In Civilization, he is willing to crash economies, prolong wars, suppress knowledge, and sacrifice virtual populations to meet the game’s survival condition. However, he later reflects on his failures against the Force Apostles and regrets treating repeated self-destruction as an escape from responsibility. 450 452 475
Dove’s attachment to his family remains a central weakness and motivation. Even when he can escape through his clones, he repeatedly returns to fight for Yun after his parents are killed. 469
Abilities & Skills
God's Chosen Authority
Dove is recognized as a genuine God's Chosen, granting him the authority to allow others to access knowledge restricted by God’s Prohibition. This authority is the basis of his Church noble status. 448 457
- Can grant permission to cross God’s Prohibition and access forbidden knowledge. 448 457
- Initially receives Church protection through Gray Envoy 257. 446 448
- Later removes God’s Prohibition across the planet after absorbing all divine power. 480
Phantom Troupe’s Leader’s Power
Dove selects the Phantom Troupe’s Leader’s Power as the foundation of his Divine Gift system. Its central function is stealing other people’s powers, including Divine Gifts. 455
- Allows him to target Divine Gifts held by other God's Chosen. 455 463
- Successfully steals Otaku’s Divine Gift after killing him. 477
- Absorbs the Commander’s powers and strips him of his status as a God's Chosen. 479
- Cannot steal the Captain’s ability through Thief’s Ultimate, likely because of the Captain’s Divine Gift defenses. 460
King of Flies
Through Shaiapouf’s Power, Dove can divide himself into vast numbers of microscopic clones and later reassemble them. 455 456
- Can hide surviving fragments away from danger and regenerate from a clone as small as a bee. 455 469
- Uses clone self-destruction for explosive movement and combat. 468 469
- Maintains hidden clones across a city and throughout the planet as revival points. 469
- Dispersed clones are less durable and can be annihilated by sufficiently powerful attacks. 468
- A clone possessing only one ten-thousandth of Dove’s main-body strength can still reach roughly three-Star power. 456
Acquired Gold Trophy Abilities
After clearing Civilization’s Difficulty Two, Dove exchanges for three major abilities. 476 477
- God’s Alibi — invisibility. 477
- Heaven Knows Not — borrows energy and imposes “bankruptcy.” 477
- Black-and-White Immortals — instantly exchanges positions with a target. 477
Enhanced Cognition and Civilization Strategy
Dove’s body and mind improve after clearing Civilization stages. His thinking speed, physical strength, and endurance rise sharply, while his clone network eventually grants him a superbrain comparable to hundreds of millions of ordinary Demi-Humans working in parallel. 457 463 479
- Clears Civilization stages at extreme speed after his upgrades. 463
- Endures two hundred thousand failures to obtain a 99.9999% permanent-survival probability in Difficulty Two. 475
- Uses Civilization’s rewards as a deliberate path to greater power rather than treating the game as entertainment. 454 476
Temporary Total Divine Power
After absorbing the powers of all God's Chosen and Church nobles, Dove briefly becomes the sole holder of God’s power. 480
- Can perceive and manipulate life across a vast area. 480
- Can see the thoughts and emotions of others, including Zhao Yiqing’s feelings toward him. 480
- Strips all nobles of their licenses and all God's Chosen of their powers simultaneously. 480
- This state ends after the stellar attack destroys Blue Star; Dove is left without his Divine Gift. 481 482
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Smart Chip — Implanted by the Commander’s organization; accelerates Dove’s learning and memorization. 439 445
- Civilization tablet — The interface through which Dove clears Black Cat’s challenge game and earns trophies. 443 476
- Gray Envoy 257 — Noble-exclusive guardian robot assigned to Dove; carries out orders including disposing of Taylor’s body and handling Tyler Company matters. 448
- Fighting dog — A giant escaped beast-fighting dog Dove defeats and rides home as a pet. 439
Relationships
- Black Cat / Li Heng / Cat Ancestor — Dove’s closest companion and the source of the Civilization challenge and Main God exchange system. Black Cat treats Dove as a means of observing Divine Gifts, but Dove increasingly relies on it for knowledge and companionship. 450 463
- Commander / Captain — Longtime rebel contact who planted Dove’s Smart Chip and initially served as an admired mentor. They later form an alliance against the Church before Dove strips him of his powers. 439 457 460 479
- Zhao Yiqing — Dove’s Higher Academy mentor and Church protector. Her affection becomes obsessive; Dove accepts her protection but ultimately rejects her advances. 443 446 480
- Kaqi — Dove’s childhood sweetheart and fiancée. He agrees to marry her, chooses her as the one person protected by the shut-in’s slime ability, and survives the destruction of Blue Star with her. 475 480 481
- Mercury — Tyler Company’s first heir and Dove’s tentative academy friend. Mercury initially recognizes Dove’s potential despite viewing him as a rival. 441
- Shuijing — Mercury’s sister, who initially humiliates and physically restrains Dove out of jealousy over Mercury. She later attempts to pursue a relationship that Dove treats with cold indifference. 445 474
- Redberry — Leader of Skeleton, the Captain’s intelligence organization, and one of Dove’s former lovers. She ultimately remains with the powerless Commander rather than accept Dove’s offer of protection. 459 480
- Swift — Dove’s female AI navigator and a member of the Commander’s organization; she guides him through electromagnetic communication and worries over his safety. 439
- Dove’s parents and Yun — His family and strongest emotional attachment. His parents are killed by the Force Apostles, while Yun is taken hostage and later revealed to have been killed by Ice Cream Cone. 469 479
