Shen Yue initially lives with the Shen family as Chen Han's younger sister. Though she does not always get along with him, she recognizes him as her elder brother and relies on him when threatened. Hou Chun of the Black Mountain Gang attempts to take her as a concubine, but Chen Han refuses on her behalf. 4 10 11

She is later abducted by men connected to the Black Mountain Gang. Chen Han pursues and rescues her; she is physically unharmed aside from the effects of a sedative, but the incident leaves her fearful and traumatized. 20 22
