Crossing the River (A Celebration for Ally KKRGUN!)

The journey from Jiangzhou Prefecture to the capital was no short one.

Aaron had previously asked Scholar Gu about the exact route. After all, he was the only one in all of Lu Prefecture Market with experience traveling to the capital for the imperial examinations.

According to Scholar Gu, he could first travel overland to Goldstone City, then switch to the waterways and head north. It would take quite some time.

Goldstone was a major southern stronghold of Great Song, with a population numbering in the hundreds of thousands. Bell Mountain coiled around it like a dragon, while stone crouched like a tiger; it was hailed as a foundation fit for an emperor.

Especially after the Grand Canal from Goldstone to the north had opened, travel and exchange between north and south had become much more convenient.

Scholars traveling to the capital for the examinations could board a ship directly now, a vast improvement over before.

Riding Little Jade, Aaron arrived near Goldstone City and could not help but sigh.

The city walls were built from piled massive stones, exceptionally sturdy.

Not only that, to its west lay the natural barrier of the great river. In its midst was a river islet called Quarry Rock, making defense exceedingly convenient for the garrison.

To the east of Goldstone City stood Purple Azure Mountain, and at its foot lay Black Tortoise Lake. It was highly favorable for defending troops, and ordinarily a scenic attraction as well.

"Leaving aside feng shui and mysticism, from the perspectives of military value and reputation alone, this is an excellent foundation... No wonder people always say Goldstone City possesses kingly aura!"
