Ancient records describe black mist seeping through a crack beyond a vanished “door,” devouring souls. The creatures associated with it called themselves Soul Hall; at the time, its existence was a forbidden secret known only to a small number of ancient experts. 92

By the time Su Chen reached the Central Plains, Soul Hall operated as a feared hidden power whose name was treated as a taboo. Soul Hall tested Su Chen at the Ten Thousand Fire Gala by sending eight black-robed Dou Zongs to ambush him. Their soul techniques and formation were shattered by the Sea Heart Flame, leaving the attackers terrified of its natural restraint over soul cultivators. 109 110

At the gala, Soul Hall also demonstrated its usual intimidation tactics by seizing Xuanmu Daoist and the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame Fragment Map outside Ten Thousand Fire Manor. A Dou Venerate led seven peak Dou Zongs in suppressing Xuanmu Daoist, then declared that “Soul Hall is virtue” after claiming the map. 117

Su Chen’s Kindling Fire method turned the conflict into an irreconcilable clash of interests. Mu Gu openly declared that the technique devalued the rare, powerful souls on which Soul Hall depended, then issued a continent-wide death ultimatum against Su Chen. 123
