"So you mean that missile that destroyed my home and landed in front of Pietro and me back then hadn't malfunctioned, but had become 'broken' because I unknowingly used a power I hadn't even discovered?"
"Yes."
"How could that be possible?" Wanda instinctively objected.
Hong Fei smiled. "It's actually very simple if you think about it seriously. First, we need to establish that the missile came from Stark Industries. Although Stark Industries hadn't sold it directly to those rebels, it had indeed been produced and manufactured by Stark Industries."
"What was wrong with that? I already knew that. Stark said his uncle betrayed him."
"I know that story well." Hong Fei wore a nostalgic expression.
"Oh?"
"I killed the uncle who betrayed him. He also gave me quite a bit of money."
To this day, Deceive Time, Confuse Masses—one of the three tools Hong Fei used most often as a master of pyramid schemes—had been dropped by Obadiah.
"Back to the point. Stark Industries weapons took the high-end route. They were the most sought-after killing machines on the battlefield. As far as I know, no weapon sold by Stark Industries had ever failed to explode after being fired." Hong Fei raised one finger for emphasis. "Not once."
Pietro was stunned as he listened. He could not help recalling that moment, one that remained unforgettable even now. He had never found anything strange about it before, assuming that he and Wanda had merely survived by luck. But now that Hong Fei mentioned it, it really did seem to be the case.
So he looked at Wanda.
Wanda was recalling it as well.
Her memories were far clearer than Pietro's vague images. She even remembered the details of the rubble and stones. Perhaps that was one of her innate talents as well.
