Background / History

Kurotsuchi is Ōnoki's granddaughter and was raised in Iwagakure alongside Kitsuchi. When Kyoshin Uchiha was temporarily housed with Ōnoki's family, she was training in the courtyard and immediately greeted the black-haired newcomer as a “pretty little sister,” having mistaken him for a girl. After learning he was a boy, her attitude became notably more open and enthusiastic. 2 4

She trained extensively in Earth Release and became increasingly impressed by Kyoshin's ability, questioning him about his Sharingan, tactics, and training methods after witnessing him defeat Akatsuchi through deception and genjutsu. 8 9 Her concern for him also became apparent during his early Anbu missions, when she brought supplies, encouraged him to rest, and sparred with him after his return. 13 15 20

Ōnoki later placed Kurotsuchi in the Iwagakure Seventh Special Operations Squad, codenamed Team Kintsuchi, under Kyoshin's command. Alongside Deidara and Karin, she undertook C- and B-rank missions, gaining practical experience in combat, command, and lethal encounters. 26 27

During a space-time incident caused by the Ōtsutsuki, Kurotsuchi was separated from her companions and sent to a similar but different world—one in which Kyoshin Uchiha had never existed. Unable to convince the local Ōnoki at first, she proved her identity through personal memories and advanced Earth Release techniques. She spent five years searching across the Five Great Nations for Kyoshin or a route home. 133 134

Kurotsuchi finally reunited with Kyoshin at a Five Kage Summit after activating the Flying Thunder God-marked kunai he had left her. By then, she had mastered Dust Release and had remained resolute in her determination to return to him. 135 136

Appearance

Kurotsuchi has short black hair, dark eyes, and a notably athletic build shaped by constant training. She is commonly seen in Iwagakure's black-and-red training attire or standard ninja clothing. 2 4 15

  • Short black hair, often damp with sweat after training. 15 88
  • Dark, expressive eyes. 2 4
  • Usually fights with her hands and forearms encased in rock. 8 15
  • Later carries a kunai engraved with Kyoshin's Flying Thunder God formula. 136

Personality

Kurotsuchi is direct, energetic, and expressive. She approaches both training and relationships with little restraint, whether challenging Kyoshin to spar, openly admiring his skill, or attempting to establish herself as his fiancée in front of Ino. 9 15 36

Although initially inexperienced with killing, she does not retreat from the reality of shinobi work. After her first mission exposed her to the aftermath of Deidara's explosives, she acknowledged her inexperience and stated that she would adapt. 27

She is also decisive under pressure and can be blunt to the point of intimidation. When Shion hesitated to confront Mōryō, Kurotsuchi physically grabbed her by the collar and demanded that she act rather than allow the threat to continue. 118

Her separation from Kyoshin revealed a more vulnerable side. Despite spending five years without any trace of him, she continued training, searching for answers, and maintaining the belief that he was both Iwagakure's future and the person she had chosen. 134 135
