History

Early village structure

At the beginning of the story, Konoha is a major shinobi village led by Hiruzen Sarutobi during his prime. Its Ninja Academy educates children from both civilian and clan backgrounds, including the Uchiha clan. 2 4

The Uchiha clan serves as Konoha's Military Police Force. Uchiha Gen later characterizes Tobirama Senju's decision to grant the clan this authority as both empowerment and containment: it gave the Uchiha law-enforcement power while binding them to village administration and limiting their unchecked growth through war. 90

Wars with Sunagakure and Amegakure

Sunagakure formally declares war on Konoha, prompting Konoha to mobilize forces to the Land of Wind front. 31 Konoha's battlefield strategy relies heavily on Tsunade's long-range Katsuyu healing, allowing its shinobi to accept injuries in exchange for kills. 35 36

Uchiha Gen becomes a decisive force in the conflict. His Uchiha-led offensive overwhelms Sunagakure's forces through Sharingan genjutsu, healing support, and a battlefield domain capable of teleporting injured Uchiha and killing enemy combatants. 71

Konoha ultimately annihilates Sunagakure, reducing the village to ruins. The destruction alarms Iwagakure and Kumogakure, which begin pursuing an alliance against Konoha. 84

Uchiha Gen's takeover

Following Mito Uzumaki's death and the release of Kurama, Uchiha Gen subjugates the Nine-Tails and moves to consolidate control over both the Uchiha clan and Konoha's leadership. 86

Gen's conflict with Hiruzen Sarutobi and the former leadership culminates in a purge of opposition. He suppresses dissent through genjutsu and uses the Uchiha clan's law-enforcement authority to conduct a sweeping cleanup of the village. 88 90

Hokage Rock is remodeled to include Gen's likeness while Hiruzen's face is removed. Gen subsequently governs as Konoha's Fourth Hokage. 90 93

Administrative Reorganization

Uchiha Gen redistributes Konoha's departments to reduce clan monopolies and place each major clan in roles aligned with its capabilities. 93 94

Unification of the Shinobi World

After conquering the opposing military powers, Konoha Central places every shinobi, samurai, onmyoji, and other extraordinary combatant under a unified registration and military system. 123 124

The reforms abolish independent armed villages and prevent clans from maintaining private armies or ruling territory independently. High-risk forces, including Tailed Beasts and mass-destruction techniques, are controlled by Konoha Central. 124

• The Ninja Academy no longer separates students by clan bloodline or former village affiliation; its curriculum includes law, geography, and local customs. 124
• Children begin chakra training only after reaching an appropriate age and with both parental and personal consent. 124
