The high-rise building had been reduced to nothing but its foundation, with concrete shards scattered everywhere amidst roaring flames and wisps of black smoke rising from every corner.
The explosion did more than just destroy the building; the surging flames ignited the surrounding area, leaving the streets in a state of utter devastation.
The cries of those fortunate enough to survive, the wailing of those who had lost their families, and the hollow stares of the despairing all pierced through the transparent glass and into Shinjoh's heart.
"The cause of the explosion is identical to the attack pattern warned of by the Kyrieloid. The one behind this is the Kyrieloid," Hori reported, having already uncovered the lead.
"Captain, the disaster situation is severe. It's difficult to carry out rescue operations with just the few of us here," Shinjoh relayed the situation from the scene. "Damn it, those cursed Kyrieloids."
Kei responded immediately, "I have already contacted the logistics department and the transport units to provide support."
"It's a pity we didn't catch those Kyrieloids earlier; otherwise, we could have tracked these guys down," Shinjoh said, his frustration mounting as he slammed his fist into his palm.
Shinjoh's complaint made Kei's eyes light up. "Yazumi, contact those drunks captured by the Security Bureau immediately and ask if they heard anything."
Yazumi picked up the phone beside him and executed the order.
He hung up the phone with a strange expression on his face.
"Captain, we've received word from the Security Bureau."
?
Even Kei, who had seen her fair share of storms, was momentarily stunned by Yazumi's words.
Since when had the TPC Security Bureau's efficiency become this high?
"Those drunks said they occasionally heard the name 'Lord Itabashi Mitsuo.' It is speculated that he is a leader among the Kyrieloids."
As Yazumi said this, his fingers never stopped tapping on the keyboard.
"I used my clearance to search for that name in conjunction with the time of death of the previous Kyrieloid."
"Among the casualties at that time, the name Itabashi Mitsuo appeared. It must be him," Yazumi's precise search allowed Kei's tense nerves to relax slightly.
"I have synced Itabashi Mitsuo's residential address to your PDIs."
"As expected of the brain of our TPC, you found it so quickly."
Kei offered a compliment, praising Yazumi as if he were a child.
Just then, the automatic doors of the GUTS command center slid open.
"What is going on? Have you still not found the enemy? We must launch a counterattack immediately!" A voice as explosive as a mortar shell erupted from Yoshioka Tetsuji, echoing throughout the GUTS headquarters.
The old man of the hawk faction was full of vigor, clearly wishing he could tear the Kyrieloids apart with his own hands.
"We have already located the enemy and are preparing to initiate the operation."
The motion of Yoshioka Tetsuji waving his folding fan suddenly stiffened, and he recoiled in disbelief.
Did I enter the wrong way? Or does this woman have some new scheme today?
Since when had Kei, who always leaned toward the dove faction, become so decisive in her decision to attack?
Ignoring the seemingly dazed Yoshioka Tetsuji, Kei immediately issued the combat orders.
"GUTS, drop all rescue work in the K1 district and proceed at maximum speed to the location shown on your PDIs to carry out evacuation."
"We must arrive before he launches his third attack." Her resolute voice was met with firm affirmations.
"Leave the evacuation work to my Security Bureau; you just focus on the battle." A faint smile appeared on Yoshioka Tetsuji's face as he walked out of the GUTS headquarters even faster than he had arrived.
Yazumi looked at Kei, confused and not understanding the situation.
"It's fine, that's just an old habit of Director Yoshioka's," Kei explained kindly.
For a young genius like Yazumi, the various internal disputes within the TPC were not things he needed to concern himself with just yet.
Meanwhile, on the other side, as Daigo drove the DeLaM Car, a strange voice suddenly echoed in his mind.
"Tiga, you wish to be the guardian deity of humanity on Earth, don't you?"
Daigo's brow furrowed. He slowed the DeLaM Car, scanned his surroundings rapidly, and shouted, "Who are you? Where are you?"
Cars passed the DeLaM Car, and people walked by as they did every other day; Daigo could not find the source of the telepathy.
Daigo's clumsy performance was observed by Itabashi Mitsuo, who laughed to himself.
"Your performance is truly laughable. To reward you for amusing me, let us set the location of our battle at the place where I reside."
"Let that place be the site where I take revenge for my kin."
No matter how Daigo called out, Itabashi Mitsuo's voice did not return.
A trace of anxiety crept into Daigo's heart. He slowed the DeLaM Car even further to buy more time for the civilians to evacuate.
"Hey, Daigo, what's wrong with you? The civilian evacuation is already over; why haven't you reached the designated position yet?" Shinjoh's complaining voice suddenly rang out from his helmet. At that, Daigo slammed his foot down on the accelerator. "I'm almost there."
The DeLaM Car performed with the same speed it had during emergency rescues in the transport unit, drifting around corner after corner!
The moment Daigo arrived at the designated area, crimson flames suddenly surged from the ground. A claw, resembling that of a demon, tore through the flames surrounding him.
With skin of mixed black and gray, stacked streamlined muscles, and a crimson core on his chest that pulsed like a heartbeat, it was the Kyrieloid.
Daigo did not hesitate to draw the Spark Lens, transforming into Tiga amidst a flash of light.
"Hmph, Tiga." The Kyrieloid did not launch an attack immediately, instead speaking as if they were merely chatting. "Before you appeared, the humans on this Earth were already waiting for the lead of us Kyrieloids—"
A crimson light, even more vivid than the setting sun, suddenly flared up and cut short the Kyrieloid's mindless blathering.
A majestic and imposing figure descended from the sky, and the earth welcomed his arrival with fervor, sending sand and stone leaping dozens of meters into the air.
The seventy-meter giant stood with his arms crossed, his eyes full of "amiable" warmth as he looked down at the Kyrieloid.
"When you speak of your leaders, are you referring to the ones who saw Tiga thirty million years ago and fled, or the ones who scurried back to their other dimension the moment they caught sight of that existence?"
Jostar had no intention of indulging the Kyrieloid; he exposed the creature's shortcomings directly and offered a cordial greeting.
"And as for your proof of wanting to rule the Earth, your vision is far too small, you fool."
To think that blowing up a single building was enough to prove one could rule the Earth—the creature must have been kicked in the head by a donkey.
The Kyrieloid felt as if his lungs were about to burst, and the pulsing of his crimson core accelerated by more than a notch.
"In that case, I shall finish both of you off today." His sharp claws splayed open violently.
