Background / History

Zhao Xiaoya is Zhao Asi's biological granddaughter and a Saintess Candidate connected to the Third Saintess Ritual. When Ning Rongrong, Ning Fengzhi, and Gu Rong discover her within the smoke-filled ritual space, she identifies herself as an Evil Soul Master and its last survivor. She claims that Zhao Asi's Smoke soul skill reacted with purple fire, killing everyone—including him—while leaving her alive. Under interrogation, she states that her family has been Evil Soul Masters for three generations, but denies knowingly killing anyone. 42

Her account is a deception. After Zhao Asi reveals that he survived through a new body and calls her a traitor, both Zhao Xiaoya and Ning Rongrong are drawn into the purple stone on his cane. Inside its white internal space, Zhao Xiaoya admits that she has lied and attacks Ning Rongrong to eliminate a rival for the Saintess position. 43 44

Zhao Xiaoya initially defeats Ning Rongrong, exploiting her inexperience with the Eight Spider Lances and the incompatibility between Trapped Beast and Strength Amplification. After Lu Ma resumes control of Ning Rongrong, Zhao Xiaoya is defeated by the lances' combo attack and requests negotiations rather than execution. 44 45

To survive, Zhao Xiaoya offers her combat ability, knowledge of the Holy Spirit Sect, and the Holy Spirit Pill, Holy Spirit Scroll, and Seventh Elder Token. The Holy God instead converts her into a loyal servant, establishes a soul link that prevents betrayal, and raises her from Level 47 to Level 51. She immediately hands the three items to Ning Rongrong, whom she recognizes as the true Saintess and the Holy God's spokesperson. 46

After returning to the ritual site, Zhao Xiaoya aids Ning Rongrong's group against Zhao Asi by using an Explosive Bone Grenade. She expresses no grief when Zhao Asi dies, calling him an “old geezer,” then admits that she attacked Ning Rongrong when confronted by Ning Fengzhi and Gu Rong. 47 She later leaves Suotuo City with Ning Fengzhi and Gu Rong to undergo reformative education at the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. 48

She is deceptive, calculating, and intensely ambitious about becoming Saintess. She fabricates a victimized history, conceals her familiarity with the purple stone, and attempts to murder Ning Rongrong because another candidate would obstruct her ascent. 43 44

Her strongest trait is self-preservation. Faced with execution, she rapidly assesses what value she can offer the Holy God; once converted, she accepts the soul link and submits immediately. Her lack of grief over Zhao Asi's death further reflects her hostile relationship with her grandfather. 46 47
