"Always remain humble; don't let power and knowledge overwhelm you."
As Qin Mo turned back to focus on his research, Vanessa suddenly said this.
Qin Mo's back trembled, then he slowly turned his head and stared into Vanessa's eyes. "What did you say?"
"Always remain humble; don't let power and knowledge overwhelm you," Vanessa calmly repeated her previous words.
If it were anyone else, even Grey saying something so preachy, Qin Mo would have accepted it completely, as the statement itself was reasonable.
But coming from a psychic, it made Qin Mo extremely resistant.
"Do you think I'm in a good mood right now?" Qin Mo pointed to his head. "My mind is filled with disgust and hatred. I cannot tolerate being around a psychic."
Qin Mo knew clearly that this hatred and disgust for psychic power were side effects of the Star God power within him.
While not all Star Gods would hate the Warp to an uncontrollable degree, the differences between Star Gods were even greater than the difference between gods and humans. It wasn't strange for a Star God to intensely hate the Warp.
"You detest the Warp and psychics? Then shouldn't you be researching psychic power and developing weapons to counter it?" Vanessa said as she walked past each instrument and piece of equipment. "These auxiliary tools are astonishing creations. The physical sciences of the material universe are like toys in your hands, but you have no talent in psychic matters. You can't even sense the Warp's existence, but I'm different."
Hearing this, Qin Mo seriously considered it, ultimately choosing to suppress his hatred and disgust. "Tell me what you know."
Vanessa immediately nodded and began to explain everything she knew to Qin Mo.
Starting with what the Warp was, how psychics used psychic power to influence reality, and how they transformed psychic power into offensive or reconnaissance methods.
As Vanessa imparted her knowledge, she treated Qin Mo as someone completely ignorant of psychic power. She even explained some highly forbidden knowledge to him.
For example, the Chaos Gods in the Warp and their powers.
Qin Mo didn't interrupt Vanessa's explanation. He listened quietly, filtering out what he already knew in his mind and focusing on remembering the new information.
This lecture lasted an entire Terran day.
Fortunately, Qin Mo's mind was quite sharp; otherwise, if Vanessa had to break down all the knowledge for him, it would have taken an unknown amount of time.
"The power of psychics doesn't come from themselves but from the Warp. Therefore, if we were to describe the process of using psychic power with one word, it would be 'drawing'."
"Do you have any inspiration?"
After finishing her explanation, Vanessa quietly watched Qin Mo, waiting for him to ask questions or share any thoughts he might have.
"Psychics exist within the material universe. I can find ways to block their connection to the Warp before they draw power," Qin Mo said with his eyes closed, deep in thought as inspiration surged.
Qin Mo stopped listening and immediately turned to write down his inspirations on paper.
Vanessa nodded approvingly, then began discussing other matters. "Speaking of which, people like you can only stay in the Tyran System for the rest of your lives, right? The Imperium's warships use Warp engines, which require entering the Warp. If you entered the Warp, wouldn't you go mad?"
"Why must I use a Warp engine?" Qin Mo looked up at Vanessa.
"Then what do you plan to use? The Webway? Don't be ridiculous. Inertial compensators? You can build them, but can you use them? You're not made entirely of metal," Vanessa said.
"I have a better idea, but I need time to research and learn. According to my plan, I will use a faster and more direct method for interstellar travel."
"Oh..." Vanessa nodded thoughtfully and couldn't help but ask, "Can you give me a hint... considering I taught you about psychic knowledge?"
"No."
"I think you haven't figured it out at all. You're just being stubborn. In reality, you'll still have to use Warp engines in the future."
"Yes, you are right."
"..."
Vanessa was very helpless and decided not to press further, instead offering Qin Mo a warning. "You're quite lucky. The rebels helped you screen for suitable confidants with that battle. Almost all your guards are qualified, except for Grot."
Upon hearing this, Qin Mo stopped writing on the paper and turned to look at Vanessa.
"He enjoys combat too much," Vanessa said. "You can take this as me trying to sow discord, but I'm telling you the truth."
Qin Mo was silent for a moment, then nodded in agreement. "You are correct."
Just as Vanessa was about to further warn him about the dangers of enjoying combat too much, Qin Mo pointed to the door. "Go back to your cell."
"Alright," Vanessa nodded, turned, and walked out of the underground cavern.
The guards outside immediately fitted Vanessa with numerous psychic suppression devices. These devices were layered upon her like armor before they escorted her back to her cell.
After the person he found so detestable left, Qin Mo fully immersed himself in his research.
He multitasked, conducting research on psychic interference technology while contemplating Grot's situation.
Of course, there was the possibility that Vanessa was trying to sow discord, but she was indeed correct.
Grot enjoyed combat too much.
Compared to the destructive power of his Shoulder Cannon or the scatter lasers that could instantly kill many enemies, Grot preferred the gravity hammer.
The gravity hammer was just a backup self-defense weapon, like a dagger. It wasn't very useful but couldn't be absent.
Yet, it was precisely this weapon that Grot particularly enjoyed using. He didn't like blasting a massive crater into the rebel lines with a single shot, but rather using the gravity hammer to smash enemies into pulp.
If this continued to develop, a terrifying outcome could arise: Grot might be noticed by Khorne, one of the four Chaos Gods.
"Guard, call Grot back," Qin Mo called out towards the door, but after waiting for a long time, no one entered.
Qin Mo felt a sense of foreboding. He walked out of the room to check the situation and saw guards lying sprawled across the entire corridor, snoring loudly.
Qin Mo quickly walked to the cell where Vanessa was being held.
There were other people locked up in the cell, but it wasn't Vanessa. It was the rebel bishop who had fled during the battle earlier.
The bishop's body had swollen up, but her vital signs were still strangely maintained. She was completely alive, and her eyes even moved to look at Qin Mo.
Qin Mo could read confusion from her gaze. The bishop didn't know why she had ended up here.
Vanessa must have brought the bishop here, Qin Mo thought.
In less than half an hour after leaving the underground cave, she had managed to escape and deliver the bishop to the cell. It was obvious her psychic power was incredibly strong.
But fortunately, no matter how strong Vanessa's psychic power was, she wasn't an enemy, at least not yet.
