History

Founding

Dugu Bo initially proposed founding a sect in Sunset City, using its proximity to Sunset Forest, his medicinal herbs, poison formations, and the Dragon Duke–Serpent Granny fusion skill as its foundation. His first plan projected that the sect could become a continental power within five years. 34

Huang Yan approved the concept but rejected the five-year timetable as too conservative. He named the organization the Divine Radiant Sect and set a three-year goal for it to become a power that neither the Heaven Dou Empire nor the wider continent would dare provoke. 35

Although Sunset City was first selected, Huang Yan later chose the Meng Family’s established holdings in Bala City as the sect headquarters. The site provided existing territory, resources, and Beast Academy as a talent reserve. 43

Recruitment and academy

Meng Shu used the Meng Family’s channels and Beast Academy to publicize the new sect. Its initial campaign announced Meng Shu’s advancement to level 91 as the Dragon Staff Douluo and Dugu Bo’s position as Supreme Elder, presenting two Title Douluos as the sect’s public foundation. 43 44

The sect declared that it accepted talents regardless of origin or background. Exceptional core disciples were promised secret elixirs to rapidly improve their cultivation. 44 46

Beast Academy was renamed Divine Radiant Academy and became the sect’s direct affiliate academy and principal external recruitment channel. Exceptional students could be promoted directly into the sect. 46

Divine Radiant Pills

Huang Yan personally refines the Divine Radiant Pill using herbs from the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well. The pill cleanses the marrow and improves cultivation aptitude, though its effects are painful and overbearing. 49

Major Arcs

Establishing authority

The sect’s first major show of force was the annihilation of the Elephant Armor Sect after its members injured Divine Radiant Academy personnel and disparaged the academy. Huang Yan personally destroyed the sect gate, killed Huyan Zhen, and ordered the remaining enemies eliminated. 53 55

The Holy Dragon Sect and Wind Sword Sect subsequently blockaded the Divine Radiant Sect alongside Martial Soul Hall elders Spirit Kite Douluo and Sea Turtle Douluo. Huang Yan killed both Title Douluos, while Dugu Bo and Meng Shu trapped the opposing sect leaders; the Divine Radiant Sect then annihilated both attacking sects. 59 60 61

Alliance and the Soul Hunting Operation

Following the conflict with Martial Soul Hall, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect entered a life-and-death alliance with the Divine Radiant Sect. The Seven Treasures provided intelligence support, while Huang Yan demanded that any broader anti–Martial Soul Hall alliance recognize Divine Radiant Sect leadership. 61 62 67

During Martial Soul Hall’s Soul Hunting Operation, Gui Mei led an assault on the Divine Radiant Sect with two additional Title Douluos. Huang Yan, Dugu Bo, Meng Shu, and Chao Tianxiang repelled the attack; Huang Yan killed the two Title Douluos, forcing Gui Mei to flee. The sect suffered no casualties. 65 66

Absorption of Shrek Academy and the Elite Tournament

Under Huang Yan’s order, Shrek Academy was forced to change ownership and submit to the Divine Radiant Sect without the direct killing of its principal faculty or students. 76

The Divine Radiant Sect entered a team in the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament under Dugu Bo’s leadership. Its roster included Ning Rongrong, Zhu Zhuqing, Ye Lingling, Dugu Yan, Meng Yiran, and two Soul Ancestors transferred from the Heaven Dou Royal Academy. 79

The Divine Radiant team dominated its group-stage opponents and defeated Shrek in the final, with Zhu Zhuqing, Ning Rongrong, and the other members overwhelming Shrek’s lineup while Huang Yan watched from the VIP box. 79 81

War against Martial Soul Hall

After Huang Yan completed the Nine Trials of Evil, the sect began direct operations against Martial Soul Hall. Meng Shu led 200 elite disciples and ten Soul Sages in a raid on Gengxin City, killing the local defenders, seizing metal and weapons, and burning the warehouse complex. 96 97

Martial Soul Hall later withdrew from or abandoned multiple peripheral territories rather than engage the sect. Divine Radiant Sect forces took Lausanne City without resistance and expanded across western Heaven Dou territory, including Fasnuo Province. 99 100

After the fall of Silves City, Huang Yan ordered the sect to consolidate its holdings before launching a three-route advance on Spirit City. Dugu Bo commands the northern route, Meng Shu and Chao Tianxiang lead the southern route, and Huang Yan personally leads the central route with Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing. 103 104
