Background / History
Shrek Academy began as a highly selective “Monster Academy” that accepted few students and graduated even fewer. Ten thousand years ago, Tang San and the other Shrek Seven Devils enrolled there, later defeating the Martial Soul Hall Academy in the Soul Master Tournament; this victory established Shrek’s reputation as the continent’s foremost academy. 4
During the war following the collision of the Sun Moon Continent and Douluo Continent, the Douluo Three Kingdoms’ coalition was initially outmatched by the Sun Moon Empire’s Soul Tool forces. A Shrek headmaster gathered nearly sixty Title Douluo from across the continent, who assumed command and defeated the Sun Moon Empire. 4 74
Following that war, Shrek became an independent institution outside any national administration. It gained continent-wide prestige, was regarded as a holy land for soul masters, and acquired the authority to monitor the continent and pursue Evil Soul Masters. 4
Tang Ya identifies Shrek’s rise after the war as a contributing factor in the Tang Sect’s decline, as talent increasingly preferred Shrek over the weakened sect. 4
Admissions and Education
Shrek’s stated philosophy is that it “only recruits monsters, not trash.” Students face strict assessments and eliminations; those who fail cannot remain enrolled. 4 5 6
- Tang Sect disciples can receive Shrek admission quotas because of the historic relationship between the two organizations. 5
- Advancement to Shrek’s Inner Court is tied to joining the Shrek Supervision Group, whose members hunt Evil Soul Masters. 8 37
- Shrek’s teaching focuses primarily on martial souls. Its Soul Tool technology is acknowledged as inferior to that of the Sun Moon Empire. 89 95
- Zhou Yi, a six-ring Soul Emperor, is a Shrek homeroom teacher known for severe discipline and the authority to expel students. 10
Criticism of Its Educational Model
Zhong Kui, Sky Dream Ice Silkworm, and Destruction God King criticize Shrek’s model for concentrating on already exceptional students rather than developing weaker ones into capable soul masters. 6 54 68
Zhong Kui also alleges that Shrek poaches talented students from the Douluo Three Kingdoms and treats students as contributors to the academy’s reputation rather than as learners. 8 11
Administration and Personnel
- Mu En — Master of Sea God Pavilion, Shrek’s strongest combatant and spiritual leader; he selected Xuan Zi as his successor and personally approved Huo Yuhao’s tournament qualification. 80 87 91
- Xuan Zi — Rank 98 Super Douluo and senior Shrek elder; leads the academy’s Soul Fighting Tournament delegation. 79 95
- Zhou Yi — Huo Yuhao’s homeroom teacher; known for strict assessments and a high Inner Court entry rate. 6 10
- Wang Yan — Accompanies Shrek’s tournament team as a teacher and team leader. 95
Soul Fighting Tournament
Shrek’s victories in the Soul Master Tournament were central to its early fame, beginning with the Shrek Seven Devils’ defeat of Martial Soul Hall Academy. 4 25
The tournament later became known as the Soul Fighting Tournament. Shrek has remained champion for many years, while the Sun Moon Empire has repeatedly failed to take first place. 15 25 79

Tournament Delegation
Shrek’s official tournament team consists of seven Inner Court students: Ma Xiaotao, Dai Yueheng, Ling Luochan, Yao Haoxuan, Chen Zifeng, Xi Xi, and Gongyang Mo. Huo Yuhao’s group serves as the reserve team. 95
Before the tournament, the main team was attacked by the Death’s Hand bandit group while under Xuan Zi’s protection. Yao Haoxuan was killed, six members were severely injured, and the reserve team was forced to replace much of the main roster. 99 100
- Xuan Zi left the students near the cave entrance because he disliked the blood smell inside. 99
- Death’s Emissary used corpse explosions and corpse slaves to ambush the team. 99
- During the attack, Death’s Emissary abducted Huo Yuhao. 99
- The incident damaged confidence in Shrek’s ability to oppose the Sun Moon Empire at the tournament. 100 101
Ultimate Single Soldier Plan
The Sea God Pavilion secretly established the Ultimate Single Soldier Plan to counter the Sun Moon Empire and create individual war assets combining high-level soul master and Soul Engineer capabilities. 84
- Huo Yuhao — The plan’s principal force, intended to specialize in reconnaissance, infiltration, sabotage, concealment, and decisive destructive attacks. 84
- He Caitou — Huo Yuhao’s support and strategist, responsible for Soul Tool manufacture, explosives, disguise, and wilderness survival; described as the plan’s arsenal. 84
- Exchange program — Shrek sends students to the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy’s Virtue Hall to study advanced Soul Tool technology. 84
