Background / History

Lucy was born into the Uji Clan of Takigakure and became the vessel of Chōmei, the Seven-Tails. Her inherited spiritual power unconsciously absorbed and spread negative emotions, causing people around her to descend into madness or self-destruction. The Uji Clan consequently feared her as a monster and did not teach her ninja techniques. Her memories include her parents turning violently on one another amid the effects of her power. 19 25

Despite Takigakure's treatment of her, Lucy maintained enough mental resilience to avoid losing herself to the negative emotions she had accumulated. She remained hidden in a shrine until Yura found her. 19

Yura entered Lucy's mental world, spoke directly with Chōmei, and learned that Lucy's power was a weakened form of the Sage of Six Paths' ability to connect people's hearts. Recognizing that continued emotional contamination would eventually drive Lucy mad, Yura offered to take both her and Chōmei away. Chōmei accepted on Lucy's behalf to keep her safe. 19

Appearance

Lucy is a sixteen-year-old girl with messy, shoulder-length golden hair, emerald eyes, and a slight build. She was initially dressed in red-and-white shrine maiden robes associated with her family's service to the Sage of Six Paths. 19

Her fear of violence does not erase her capacity for it. She hesitated during her first lethal encounter, but resolved not to hesitate again after believing that learning to kill was necessary to remain at Yura's side. 22 23
