Background / History

Tang San originated from Holy Soul Village and was identified as a transmigrator with knowledge of Tang Sect techniques. At his martial soul awakening, he manifested Blue Silver Grass and Innate Full Soul Power; his second martial soul, the Clear Sky Hammer, remained concealed at first 1 26 42.

At Nuoding Academy, he viewed Lin Chen—another child with Innate Full Soul Power—as a rival. Lin Chen took the Dorm Seven leadership and defeated Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass with a precise strike, leaving Tang San wary and resentful 2 4. Tang San subsequently lost the century-old Datura Snake spirit ring he had expected to obtain, settling instead for a mediocre Green Grass Snake ring that gave his Blue Silver Grass no poison attribute 5 6. Lin Chen also purchased the Body Tempering Grass Tang San intended to use to stabilize his foundation 8.

His frustration escalated into increasingly hostile actions. After stealing spirit herbs from Nuoding Academy, he was publicly punished with lost credits, three days of confinement, and a requirement to copy the academy rules 9. During the Shrek period, he secretly lured a thousand-year Datura Snake toward his own team and later ambushed them with poison needles and a poison mist formation 23 29.

Tang San forged the semi-finished Buddha’s Fury Tang Lotus by consuming essence blood, life force, and Blue Silver Grass vitality. He used it against Lin Chen and the Shrek Team, but Lin Chen blocked the weapon and sealed Tang San’s dantian after the backlash destroyed his soul power 24 26. Despite this defeat, Tang San continued pursuing revenge through poison arts, hidden weapons, and manipulated soul beasts until the Shrek Team completely severed its ties with him 29 30 32.

Tang Hao later trained Tang San in the Clear Sky Hammer and helped him restore his strength. Tang San returned to Shrek as a level 40 Soul Ancestor to assassinate Lin Chen, but Martial Soul Hall’s dark guards ambushed and captured him instead 38 42 43. Tang Hao eventually rescued him from Spirit City’s death prison, suffering near-fatal injuries during their escape 60.

Following the prison break, Tang San embraced the Asura path. The Asura God secretly cultivated his potential through divine essence, trials, and eventually secluded training in the God Realm 60 64 70 86. His rapid progression ultimately carried him to Rank 99 and the Asura God King inheritance 99.

Appearance

Tang San initially appears in coarse clothing with an outwardly honest and dutiful manner 1. His appearance grows increasingly severe as he embraces the Asura path and endures repeated extreme cultivation.

Tang San begins as self-satisfied over his Innate Full Soul Power and quickly develops hostility toward Lin Chen after being repeatedly outperformed 1 2 4. He is persistent and willing to endure pain, but this resolve increasingly manifests as jealousy, paranoia, and fixation on revenge.

His defeats lead him to favor covert and lethal methods: theft, poison traps, hidden weapons, and attempts to weaponize soul beasts against former companions 9 23 24 29. Even after his soul power and meridians are sealed, he refuses to abandon revenge and searches for more dangerous means to regain strength 30.

After escaping Spirit City, Tang San’s compassion is described as vanishing as he embraces a cold and ruthless Asura nature 60 61. God Realm cultivation later grants him greater outward calm and patience, but his resentment of Lin Chen remains central to his ambitions 86 98.
