Yuhi Shinku's words left Yuki Yuichi in silence.
Yuhi Kurenai stood to the side, blinking her large eyes as she watched the two of them.
She didn't quite understand what they were talking about, but she could tell that her beloved Yuichi-kun was no ordinary person.
Thinking this, Yuhi Kurenai gave a slight tug to the hand she was holding with Yuki Yuichi: "Yuichi..."
Feeling Yuhi Kurenai's small gesture, Yuki Yuichi turned his head to look at her, "Let it go, Kurenai!"
"Perhaps this is the burden one must carry if they wish to become the God of Shinobi."
Yuhi Shinku: "#####***"
Did he say anything in his previous sentence about what kind of burden he had to carry?
Yuhi Shinku felt an urge to curse, but thinking it inappropriate, he forced the words back down.
"Alright, I've told you everything I needed to tell you."
"Next, I will..."
Before Yuhi Shinku could finish, Yuki Yuichi interrupted, pointing at himself: "Uncle Shinku, do I possess the Uzumaki Bloodline?"
Seeing Yuki Yuichi's action, Yuhi Shinku's heart skipped a beat. Although he didn't know why he would ask this, based on his understanding of Yuki Yuichi, it wouldn't be that simple.
Sure enough, Yuki Yuichi's words immediately reached his ears.
"I can feel the power of the Uzumaki Clan's bloodline, but I've heard that the Uchiha have 'red-eye disease.' Why don't I have it?"
Hearing Yuki Yuichi's words, Yuhi Shinku breathed a sigh of relief, but immediately corrected him, "That is the Sharingan, not red-eye disease!"
"The Sharingan will awaken in the future. As long as you behave yourself and don't go looking for trouble, it will awaken."
"Really?" Yuki Yuichi looked skeptical. "I don't believe you."
"I, a Konoha Jonin, would lie to a mere Ninja Student like you?"
Yuhi Shinku pointed at himself, then at Yuki Yuichi, but quickly turned serious and spoke with a solemn expression, "However, I hope you never awaken it in your entire life."
As a Konoha Jonin who had worked with Uchiha comrades, he naturally knew the conditions required to awaken the Uchiha's Sharingan.
It was a Kekkei Genkai that could only be unlocked by losing loved ones and comrades.
If he could, he truly hoped Yuki Yuichi would never unlock the Sharingan, as that would mean he would never have to endure such pain.
Some among the higher-ups claimed the Uchiha were a naturally evil clan.
But in the eyes of Yuhi Shinku, the Uchiha were actually quite reliable.
Especially as comrades.
They were powerful, and while their personalities could be cold or arrogant, they were actually quite easy to get along with.
The key was that once they acknowledged you, they would treat you with genuine sincerity. Furthermore, if you died, they would awaken their eyes, become even stronger, and avenge you.
What excellent teammates they were.
Of course, this assumed you didn't run into those mentally unstable ones who would tearfully stab themselves just to awaken their eyes.
He had seen such things in Yuki Yuichi's mother; after all, he had been on the same squad as Yuki Yuichi's parents.
Just as Yuhi Shinku was lost in memory, Yuki Yuichi rubbed his chin and asked thoughtfully: "If I possess the Uchiha bloodline, do they not care about me?"
Yuki Yuichi's words made Yuhi Shinku laugh.
"You little brat, why would they care about you?"
"Wouldn't they prevent their bloodline from spreading outside?" Yuki Yuichi asked, puzzled.
At first, his ignorance about the Sharingan had been an act, but he was genuinely curious about this.
"They are the Uchiha, not the Hyuga."
"The Uchiha Clan has always been allowed to marry outside the clan; your existence is not exactly rare."
"It's just that you are a bit more special, having an Uzumaki Bloodline on top of it. As long as you don't go knocking on their door begging them to take you in, they won't bother with you."
Yuhi Shinku looked at Yuki Yuichi and smiled as he spoke.
He was truly satisfied with Yuki Yuichi; their constant bickering was just their way of expressing affection.
Although he didn't like the boy eyeing his daughter, he felt quite at ease leaving Yuhi Kurenai in Yuki Yuichi's care.
Hearing Yuhi Shinku's words, it was as if Yuki Yuichi's ancient memories had been revived, and he suddenly recalled that the original work seemed to have mentioned something similar.
Though it wasn't explicitly stated, he remembered Uchiha Izumi, who was suspected to be Uchiha Itachi's girlfriend.
Uchiha Izumi's mother had married a man who was not of the Uchiha Clan and had moved out of the clan.
But following the accidental death of Uchiha Izumi's father, her mother had brought her back to the Uchiha Clan and changed her name to Uchiha Izumi.
Looking at Yuki Yuichi, Yuhi Shinku asked, "Any more questions?"
"No more." Yuki Yuichi shook his head. He had truly gained some incredible information today.
He had been wondering how he would explain it if he were ever rewarded with an Uchiha template in the future.
Now it seemed, there would be no need to explain at all.
I am a genius of unparalleled talent; what's the big deal about awakening a Sharingan!
Yuki Yuichi thought silently to himself. Although many of his behaviors were like those of a child, he had never actually forgotten that he was an adult.
Having spent so much time among his peers, he had become somewhat childish himself, but wasn't this just another form of camouflage?
Hearing that Yuki Yuichi had no more questions, Yuhi Shinku gave a light cough and said, "Both of you have enrolled today, so you won't be able to be so laid-back from now on."
As Yuhi Shinku spoke, he put on a stern face and looked at the two of them.
Seeing her father's expression, Yuhi Kurenai nervously pursed her lips; she had never seen her father act like this in front of her before.
Yuki Yuichi, however, was indifferent; he had long since grown accustomed to this look from Yuhi Shinku.
Ever since he started courting Yuhi Kurenai, if he ever went a day without seeing this expression, he wouldn't even need to doubt it—it would definitely be an impostor, and he could go straight to the Hokage Building to report it.
Seeing that his expression hadn't scared Yuki Yuichi but had instead made his own daughter nervous, Yuhi Shinku was rendered speechless. He stopped pretending to be stern and relaxed his posture.
"The first-year curriculum at the Ninja Academy consists of chakra refinement and literacy."
"Since both of you already know these things, to avoid wasting this year, you will both need to rush back after school starting tomorrow. I will personally teach you the study of genjutsu."
"I am, after all, a genjutsu master of Konoha!"
Yuhi Shinku looked quite proud; being able to earn the title of genjutsu master in a Konoha that possessed the Uchiha Clan was proof enough of his strength and his attainments in genjutsu.
Seeing his smug look, Yuki Yuichi fidgeted for a moment and muttered under his breath, "Can we not learn it?"
"Hmm~ hmm?!"
Yuhi Shinku narrowed his eyes. "What did you say?"
"I said, having a powerful ninja like Uncle Shinku guide us is a blessing that many people wouldn't be able to beg for in eight lifetimes!" Seeing Yuhi Shinku's expression turn sour, Yuki Yuichi changed his tune in an instant.
"That's more like it!"
