The afternoon classes remained as tedious as ever. Yuki Yuichi had guessed Sarutobi Hiruzen's intentions, but Kakashi Hatake and the others had not.
Even Yuhi Kurenai spent the entire afternoon glancing nervously at Umino Ikkaku, terrified that he might call them out at any moment to reprimand them.
However, they were destined to be overthinking things.
Until it was nearly time for school to end, Umino Ikkaku never called for them.
"Yuichi, the teacher actually didn't criticize us," Yuhi Kurenai whispered, a silly, guileless smile appearing on her face.
"Hehe, let's hurry home later. Otherwise, if the teacher remembers, we'll be done for."
Yuhi Kurenai simply assumed Umino Ikkaku had forgotten, and she carefully poked Yuki Yuichi with her finger.
As Umino Ikkaku lectured at the front, his ears suddenly twitched. Hearing this, the corner of his mouth twitched violently.
Fine, I'm pretending not to know about it, and you think I've forgotten?
Yuhi Kurenai's words left Yuki Yuichi feeling both amused and helpless.
No matter what, Umino Ikkaku was a Chunin; how could he possibly forget something like that?
Thinking this, he patted Yuhi Kurenai on the head. "It's fine, the teacher isn't that petty."
After hearing Yuhi Kurenai's words, Umino Ikkaku's attention had been entirely focused on them. Upon hearing this, he nodded in satisfaction.
Soon, the bell for the end of the school day rang.
Umino Ikkaku did not drag things out, instead announcing the end of class immediately.
However, just as Yuki Yuichi and the others were preparing to jump out the window, Umino Ikkaku gave a light cough. "Yuki Yuichi, come with me!"
He had a very favorable impression of Yuki Yuichi.
Although he had thought the boy was a troublemaker when they first met, he later discovered that he wasn't really that rebellious after all.
Especially yesterday, when they skipped class together; Yuki Yuichi's attitude toward admitting his mistake had been excellent. At a glance, he was clearly a good kid.
Skipping class today was most likely because he had been led astray by Kakashi Hatake!
Umino Ikkaku thought this, glanced at Kakashi Hatake, and then let out a heavy sigh.
This left Kakashi Hatake completely bewildered. Teacher, what are you doing?
Why are you sighing at me for no reason?
Just as he was confused, Yuki Yuichi walked past him and couldn't help but pat him on the shoulder. "Kakashi, don't be like that. The teacher is doing this for your own good, you know."
Kakashi Hatake stared at him, stunned. He pointed at himself, then at Yuki Yuichi. "I... you... no... I..."
Kakashi Hatake was incoherent; at that moment, ten thousand alpacas were stampeding through his mind.
Umino Ikkaku's opinion of Yuki Yuichi improved even further.
Look at that, what a good child.
He must have been corrupted by that delinquent, Kakashi!
Umino Ikkaku thought simply. It wasn't just Yuki Yuichi; Yuhi Kurenai and Uchiha Obito had been corrupted as well.
Even the Hokage's own child had turned out like this.
Thinking of this, Umino Ikkaku looked at Kakashi Hatake with some hostility, but still, acting on the principle that a teacher must be responsible for guidance, he earnestly exhorted, "Kakashi, you should learn from Yuichi and the others!"
Kakashi Hatake: "???"
While he was still bewildered, Yuki Yuichi followed Umino Ikkaku away.
Yuhi Kurenai's worried voice reached his ears. "Will Yuichi be alright..."
"Don't worry, Kurenai," Uchiha Obito's voice rang out boisterously. "That guy Yuichi isn't the type to be easily lectured!"
Kakashi Hatake turned his head to look at him, then nodded.
Although Uchiha Obito was a bit of an idiot, he had accidentally guessed right this time.
Just by the way Teacher Ikkaku had treated Yuki Yuichi earlier, there didn't seem to be any problem.
He looked at Kakashi Hatake, then at Uchiha Obito, and felt relieved.
Sarutobi Asuma sat in his seat, hands clasped behind his head. "Are we waiting for him here?"
Mitarashi Anko was sitting right in front of Sarutobi Asuma. Hearing their conversation, she couldn't help but ask out of curiosity, "By the way, where did you guys go this morning?"
"Did you go to eat something delicious?!"
As she mentioned eating something delicious, her voice became excited.
Seeing her like this, Yuhi Kurenai smiled.
"You're Anko, right?"
"We went to train."
Yuhi Kurenai's words made Mitarashi Anko lose interest. Compared to training, she preferred to slump in the classroom and space out while listening to the teacher's voice.
While they were chatting, Yuki Yuichi followed behind Umino Ikkaku, feeling a bit curious about what the teacher wanted with him.
He followed Umino Ikkaku to a secluded spot and stopped.
Just as Yuki Yuichi was feeling curious, Umino Ikkaku turned back to look at him, revealing a smile.
"Yuichi, can you tell your teacher where you all went this morning?" Umino Ikkaku's intention was simple.
Lord Hokage had only told him to turn a blind eye, so surely it would be fine to just ask, right?
Yuki Yuichi looked at him in surprise, then nodded; there was nothing that couldn't be said.
"Yesterday, we ran into Big Brother Minato and Uncle Hokage."
"Teacher, you should know about this, right?" Yuki Yuichi said, looking at Umino Ikkaku.
He nodded; Yuki Yuichi had already mentioned this during yesterday's Will of Fire lesson, so he was aware of it.
Yuki Yuichi continued, "We went to the training ground above the Hokage Rock yesterday, which is how we bumped into Big Brother Minato."
"So today, Kakashi took us there to train and practice as well."
Upon hearing this, Umino Ikkaku nodded in realization; he finally understood exactly what they had been doing while skipping class.
Although skipping class wasn't right, he understood that for children who had already mastered these skills, the current curriculum was simply too dull.
Since they weren't just wandering around playing, he would turn a blind eye.
Thinking this, Umino Ikkaku smiled and told Yuki Yuichi he could leave and head home.
However, just as Yuki Yuichi turned to leave, Umino Ikkaku remembered the purpose for which he had called Yuki Yuichi over, and spoke up immediately.
"Since that's the case, you lot can come to school in the morning, and then go off to skip class for your training."
"But you must come to class in the afternoon!"
Umino Ikkaku spoke with an unquestionable tone. Yuki Yuichi nodded; even if the teacher hadn't said it, he would have come in the afternoon anyway.
The reason was simple: he couldn't very well attend school and never see his own people.
Besides, the afternoon class was the Will of Fire...
He was, after all, an inheritor of the Will of Fire!
He absolutely had to listen!
Not only listen, but he also had to take notes!
After he left, Umino Ikkaku sighed with some emotion, "What a self-disciplined youth."
As he spoke, he suddenly realized something.
"Kakashi took them to the training ground again..."
Umino Ikkaku murmured softly, his face turning red, "I knew it was Kakashi!"
"Yuki Yuichi is such a good kid, and he's actually been led astray like this by him!"
Umino Ikkaku was furious at this moment; if Kakashi Hatake were here, he would definitely give him a stern lecture.
