Background

Ensei is a transmigrator who entered the body of Sasuke Uchiha at the age of five. Aware of the coming Nine-Tails incident and Uchiha clan massacre, he anonymously warned Minato Namikaze about Obito Uchiha, Kushina Uzumaki’s pregnancy, and the planned childbirth ambush. He used a modified Shadow Clone to prevent the letter from being traced back to him. 1

During the years after the Nine-Tails’ Rampage, Ensei developed a private laboratory, accumulated supplies through the Ninja Cat Clan, and began cloning and ocular-power experiments. His increasingly unusual behavior caused both the Uchiha and Konoha leadership to suspect that he had been replaced or impersonated. 6 8 15 He publicly claimed that his unusual eyes allowed him to see the future, then used his knowledge of the original timeline to expose the roles of Obito, Danzō, Shisui, and Itachi in the clan’s future destruction. 8 9

After violently removing Danzō Shimura’s stolen Sharingan, Ensei gained enough influence for Fugaku Uchiha to appoint him an elder and name him as a future successor. 9 11 He nevertheless remained more interested in research than administration, focusing on Byakugan cloning, Mangekyō transplantation, sealing techniques, artificial bodies, and methods to avoid dependence on unstable external power. 29 89 119 129

Ensei’s pursuit of Tailed Beast chakra, the Tenseigan, and a controllable Ten-Tails brought him into conflict with multiple hidden villages and Madara Uchiha. He extracted chakra from the Four-, Five-, and Seven-Tails, subdued Takigakure and Kirigakure through overwhelming force, and treated the jinchūriki as strategic assets rather than enemies to be indiscriminately killed. 68 71 72 134

His conflict with the Uchiha clan escalated when Itachi and other clan members prepared to defect to Madara.
