Overview
The Cosmic Sea is the vast expanse beyond the Original Universe, permeated by endlessly dense chaotic currents. The Original Universe is its largest known celestial body, while countless small universes, perilous lands, natural wormholes, and remnants of prior eras drift within it. 244 246
It is regarded as the true battlefield for high-level experts, in contrast to the Original Universe, which Chaos City Leader describes as a comparatively peaceful cradle. 244
Composition and Cosmology
- Chaotic currents — The Cosmic Sea is filled with highly pure chaotic energy, which supplies miniature universes and is described as the origin of all energy. Even passive pressure from these currents can reduce an immortal god to ashes. 246
- Original Universe — The largest known celestial body in the Cosmic Sea; its seemingly endless membrane wall gives lifeforms leaving it a sense of reverence and familiarity. 244 246
- Small universes — Each Universe Supreme Master possesses a small universe. Once its owner falls, the universe decays and collapses, scattering spatial fragments, continental debris, divine corpses, and ownerless treasures. 246 310
- Known remnants — Humanity has discovered 18,022 small universes, though many more may have drifted beyond explored space. 246
- Unknown extent — No expert has found the Cosmic Sea's end; venturing too deeply risks permanent disorientation. 244 310
Reincarnation Eras and Factions
| Group | Description |
|---|---|
| First Universe Era | The strongest of the three known eras; its experts possess the deepest accumulated foundations. 246 |
| Second Reincarnation Era | The era preceding the current one. 246 |
| Third Universe Era | The current era, which includes the Original Universe and is initially considered the weakest of the three. 246 247 |
| Two Holy Lands | The most powerful individual factions in the Cosmic Sea. Their small universes measure approximately 2.1 billion and 3.2 billion light-years in diameter and have survived countless reincarnation eras. 246 247 |
Nearly a hundred factions are spread across the three eras and two Holy Lands. The eras themselves are not united, and forces outside one's own faction may attack without warning. 247
Navigation
Maps and Landmarks
Coordinates cannot be determined in the Cosmic Sea. Travelers rely on maps, recorded landmarks, and known natural wormholes; teleporting through unmapped territory can leave one permanently lost. 245
- Natural wormholes cover most long-distance travel, while teleportation is used along mapped routes. 245
- Explorers are advised to fly through unknown territory so they can document routes and landmarks rather than teleport blindly. 245
- Thread-Pulling Maps are exceptionally valuable because they record routes, hazards, and traps in dangerous regions; a detailed map can provoke conflict between peak races. 245
- Even combined human and Thread-Pulling Maps cover less than one ten-thousandth of Tilted Peak Realm's inner region. 252
Exploration Risks
- More than 3,000 dangerous regions are known to humanity, with the number continuing to rise. 247
- The Shaking Sand River is dangerous enough that even Chaos City Leader must explore it cautiously. 247
- Getting lost may strand an expert for countless eras, even if they retain map references but cannot locate their landmarks. 245
Major Perilous Lands
| Location | Description |
|---|---|
| Tilted Peak Realm | One of the three great perilous lands. Its main mountain is about 98.02 million light-years tall; its outer region alone contains deadly air and water regions. 245 247 |
| Universe Boat | A damaged ancient mechanical-type supreme treasure and one of the three great perilous lands. Despite its damage, it continues to function and absorb external energy. 317 321 |
| Flowing Heavy Mountain | One of the three great perilous lands. 321 |
| Dark Land | The core region of Tilted Peak Realm and a death zone from which no entrant was known to have escaped. It later becomes known as the Realm Beast nest. 304 341 |
| Fourth Absolute Land / World of Jin | Formed around the colossal humanoid entity that collided with the Universe Boat. Its interior contains the World of Jin, a miniature universe tied to ancient-civilization inheritances. 319 320 322 |
Inhabitants and Threats
- Universe Masters and True Gods from the three reincarnation eras and the Holy Lands explore, compete, and fight throughout the Cosmic Sea. 247 285
- Waterflow spirits inhabit Tilted Peak Realm's water region. They lack intelligence and consciousness, attack by instinct, and can rival a Universe Master when supported by the waters. 248
- Realm Beasts are born in the Cosmic Sea and threaten all universes. During gestation, one billion Realm Beasts slaughter one another until only one remains to enter the growth stage. 341
- A fully grown Realm Beast is described as invincible and capable of destroying every universe, including the Original Universe. 341

Trivia
- The Cosmic Sea has no dark universe, so the conventional speed-of-light limit does not apply there. 247
- Its chaotic currents are far purer and more oppressive than those within the Initial Universe. 246
- Ren Ze can use his internal universe to project a detailed panoramic map over an area of roughly ten light-years, giving him an unusual advantage while navigating its hazards. 246 252
