Towering mountains stretched endlessly, with countless ancient trees reaching into the firmament. A breeze rustled the leaves, and amidst the soft whispering, a figure glided silently through the branches.
"We've arrived?" Bai Yixin paused in the canopy of a tree.
Upon entering this mountain forest, he had sensed a terrifying aura that felt incredibly oppressive.
The forest was deathly silent, like a graveyard, save for a collapsed stone mountain that stood out in stark contrast.
There was no chirping of birds or roaring of beasts here; there was only a deathly stillness and an aura of mortality that chilled one to the bone.
Choosing not to advance further, Bai Yixin knew exactly why he was here. He would not do anything unnecessary; his life was the top priority.
Retreating several miles, Bai Yixin stealthily climbed a thousand-meter-tall ancient tree to gaze at the forest from afar, keeping a close watch on the situation in hopes of spotting human figures.
After a short while, a group of people emerged from the distance, rushing headlong into the forest at a frantic pace.
"As long as there are people, that's fine." Seeing this, Bai Yixin narrowed his eyes and let out a sigh of relief.
The group came and went quickly. Before Bai Yixin could decide how to approach them for information, they seemed to sense something, retreated rapidly, and ascended a high mountain not far from him.
Bai Yixin nodded to himself. This group had some skill; it seemed they had noticed something, which saved him from having to go into that dangerous place to warn them.
Figures flickered and shouts rang out as three more groups appeared, entering the forest from three different directions and heading straight for the collapsed stone mountain.
"Is there some treasure in that stone mountain? Why are these people so eager to throw their lives away?" Bai Yixin moved silently toward the first group that had arrived.
He did not attempt to warn the three groups; Bai Yixin was not that kind-hearted. He had come on this journey to seek the path of cultivation, not to meddle in unnecessary affairs.
Besides, fools were always the first to die!
Bai Yixin glanced at the three parties who had immediately clashed upon meeting. The ear-piercing sounds of battle made him shake his head. He scanned the distance, looked up at the sky, and accelerated his Breath Concealment Art.
"ROAR!!!"
Suddenly, several ferocious beasts appeared one after another. Each was the size of a house, baring snow-white fangs as they lunged at the groups, intent on fighting for the stone mountain.
At the same time, long cries echoed from the sky. A gale whipped up as several fierce birds descended. Each was five or six meters long with a wingspan of eleven or twelve meters. They dove down, tearing six or seven people apart on the spot, leaving blood splattered across the ground.
"Good grief, the birds and beasts that ran away have returned?!"
This bloody scene only made Bai Yixin frown slightly. He had seen bloodier sights, but what made him frown was that this was the first time he had seen "people" torn to shreds right before his eyes.
For a time, the shrieks of birds and beasts rose and fell, and the entire mountain range boiled over.
The beasts rioted. From those dozens of meters long to those only a few feet, hundreds appeared in the blink of an eye. They were all powerful species, surging forward like a flood and roaring madly.
The sky was no different; various avian creatures flew about, their iron beaks and sharp claws blotting out the sky. They charged at the mountain land as if they had gone mad, feathers and scales flying everywhere.
Such a formation made even Bai Yixin feel a sense of dread. Seeing even more beasts surging toward this location, he did not hesitate, stepping on the wind and flying toward the first group of people.
Since he was already here, he couldn't just leave empty-handed.
If that group ran into trouble, Bai Yixin could lend a hand and ask for what he needed afterward.
"There are too many beasts, it's not safe here either! We might get caught in the crossfire!" an elder from the first group shouted.
"Awoo..."
No sooner had he spoken than a gale swept across the mountain. Two behemoths appeared in tandem, each seven or eight meters long, covered in brown fur, with ferocious features and wings growing from their flanks.
They were terrifying Biao, and two of them had appeared at once!
A Biao is a strange, winged tiger whose ferocity shakes the mountains and forests, feeding on all manner of beasts.
Seeing two Biao appear simultaneously was truly shocking. They were far more savage than ordinary beasts, and it was clear this group would struggle to handle them.
With a "whoosh," a gust of wind blew past. One giant Biao moved, diving down and opening its blood-red maw to bite two villagers at once. With a crunch, the severed torso of one fell, blood gushing out in a horrific sight.
A few mournful roars came from the villagers as iron arrows rained forward.
It was all too sudden. The savage Biao could fly and were seven or eight meters long; such behemoths appearing out of nowhere were impossible to defend against, causing an instant, bloody massacre.
"Beasts!"
The two burly men leading the group roared. Both swung their broadswords and charged forward, leading a group of the strongest men to attack the fierce Biao.
"Awoo-roar..."
At this moment, the other Biao did not remain idle. It let out a roar and lunged from the other side, waving a claw. Cold light flashed with a clanging sound, sparks flying as it knocked away the broadswords and clubs in the men's hands.
But just as the giant Biao was about to swing its cold, gleaming claws to disembowel the men before it, a small foot propelled a dark shadow out from the canopy above the beast's head, kicking it squarely in its ugly skull.
"BOOM!"
To everyone's astonishment, a petite figure had actually kicked the seven-or-eight-meter-long giant Biao flying.
The newcomer was none other than Bai Yixin, who had arrived to trade his help for information. Hearing the roars he could understand, he had moved like lightning to deliver a kick to the beast attacking the crowd.
Bai Yixin saw a Little One who had just run out from the crowd. His arms were shimmering, as if stars were lighting up upon them. Between his palms and fingers, points of light gathered, and then a Silver Moon appeared.
This moon was incredibly realistic, as if a divine moon had fallen from the nine heavens, radiating holy light.
"This one is yours."
Bai Yixin met the gaze of the slightly bewildered Little One, glanced at the Silver Moon that was emitting a faint threat, and without further ado, spoke a single sentence before charging straight toward the other giant Biao.
A cyan whirlwind hummed on the blade in his hand. Sidestepping a claw strike from the giant Biao, Bai Yixin thrust his short sword directly at the beast's neck.
The Giant Tiger's hide and flesh were somewhat tough, causing the short sword to stall for a second before it sank in with a wet thud, sending gore flying.
Bai Yixin vaulted over the Giant Tiger, his short sword tracing a path across the majority of the beast's neck as the cyan whirlwind on the blade turned the color of blood.
Flicking away the blood-stained whirlwind, Bai Yixin glanced at the Giant Tiger, which looked as if its head had been sawed off by a chainsaw, the beast's blood spraying out like a small river. He took a few steps further away to avoid being splattered, then turned to see how the Little One was faring on the other side.
He saw that Silver Moon was not merely beautiful; glowing with radiance, it struck the neck of the other Giant Tiger in a single motion, blood erupting as it cleanly severed the head.
Why does this scene feel strangely familiar? Silver Moon, Little One... if a Green-Scaled Eagle were to show up now... Bai Yixin sheathed his short sword, his expression calm as he pondered the thought.
