Background / History

Jing Tao is Jing Hesheng's only daughter and the person he raised to serve as the pillar of his household. After Jing Hesheng's waist was broken and he became unable to manage the family business, collateral relatives used Jing Tao's youth to strip her of authority over the family medicinal-soap factory, Lingtong Hall. 9

Ji Xiao's actions devastated Jing Tao's family. Ji Xiao bewitched Jing Hesheng, entered the household as his concubine, and nearly killed Jing Tao after Jing Tao discovered her fox-demon nature. Jing Tao was saved by Yan Luo, who accepted her as his disciple and brought her into the Night Roaming God tradition. 14

Jing Tao trained her spirituality for years, learned to see through Ji Xiao's deception, and eventually abducted the demon into the Jing residence's cellar when Ji Xiao was off guard. She turned the estate into a fortified supernatural trap-filled refuge while caring for her ill father. 14 16

After Xu Yi accidentally transformed Ji Xiao into Fox Incense, Jing Tao considered her vengeance complete, though the ordeal left her exhausted. She initially proposed that Xu Yi marry into the Jing family so that he would help reclaim Lingtong Hall, but he refused while still agreeing to assist her. 15

With Xu Yi and Duan Hu's support, Jing Tao retook Lingtong Hall. She persuaded surviving managers to remain, confronted the former security team, promised workers improved pay and conditions, and resumed factory production. 27 28 29

Jing Tao is a neat, schoolgirl-aged young woman with a round face, a stern scholarly bearing, and unusually seductive eyes. Her personal fragrance is identified as osmanthus mixed with a lingering trace of gardenia. 7 22

She can be ruthless toward enemies, as shown by her treatment of Ghost Brother and her determination to destroy Ji Xiao.
