Background / History

Imprisonment beneath the Heaven Burning Qi Refining Tower

Yao Tianhuo existed as a soul body in the magma world below the Heaven Burning Qi Refining Tower. After Li Xingluo was dragged underground by a fire dragon, he discovered Yao Tianhuo's skeleton and the ring containing his spirit 97.

He negotiated with Li Xingluo: in exchange for assistance escaping and obtaining a new body, Yao Tianhuo would help him subdue the Fallen Heart Flame. Before fully accepting the arrangement, he tested Li Xingluo by sending a fire lizard man against him 98.

Yao Tianhuo had previously been the first master of the Fallen Heart Flame. He admits that his own greed ultimately led to the circumstances surrounding the flame and Jia Nan Academy 101.

Partnership with Li Xingluo

After witnessing Li Xingluo's talent and temperament, Yao Tianhuo began treating him as a favored junior rather than a mere means of escape. In exchange for soul-nourishing pills, he taught Li the Five-Ring Flame Expelling Fire Art and continued restoring his own soul power within Li's storage ring 100.

He guided Li Xingluo to the Fallen Heart Flame and contributed his soul power during the subjugation attempt. Although alarmed that Li intended to refine a second Heavenly Flame, Yao Tianhuo could only watch as Li endured the process and succeeded 101.

During later expeditions, he acted as both guide and protector. He blocked a fatal attack from a soul body in the ancient hall, then praised Li Xingluo for deducing that the hostile soul bodies would cease attacking if they were not met with hostility 117 118. He also lent Li his soul power to overwhelm Tieshan, master of the Iron Mountain Sect 110.

Resurrection

Li Xingluo spent considerable effort collecting materials for Yao Tianhuo's revival. Yao Tianhuo selected Yun Shan's body over Mo Tianxing's because he preferred the more handsome vessel; Mo Tianxing's body was instead made into an Earth Demon Puppet 205.

Li Xingluo successfully refined the Bone Melting Blood Pill, then used Heavenly Flames to refine Yun Shan's body and merge Yao Tianhuo's soul into it. Yao Tianhuo regained a physical body, while Li collapsed from exhaustion immediately afterward 207.

Following his resurrection, Yao Tianhuo remained alongside Li Xingluo as an active combatant and protector. He defended Li's group against Tian Shuangzi, later stood against Ice Venerable, and gradually recovered his former strength with Li's aid 214 235 252.

Appearance

Yao Tianhuo initially appears as an incorporeal soul body, capable of manifesting beside Li Xingluo or resting on his shoulder. Once restored, he inhabits Yun Shan's body 100 207.

Personality

Yao Tianhuo is forthright, boisterous, and fond of teasing those around him. He appreciates Li Xingluo's directness and dislikes hypocritical behavior, openly stating that Li's temperament suits him better than that of the arrogant geniuses he has encountered 100.

He can be selfish and cautious when his soul is at risk. He initially avoids acting against the Phantom Demon Tiger because the Emperor Cauldron appears interested in soul bodies, and he fears the consequences for himself 123. However, guilt over leaving Li Xingluo exposed causes him to become more earnest about protecting him afterward 124.

Despite his grumbling and habit of calling Li Xingluo a “little brat,” he becomes deeply loyal to him. He is visibly anxious during Li's dangerous breakthroughs, enraged when enemies interfere with Li's alchemy, and willing to serve as his guard after his recovery 100 206 252.
