Arcanist — [Weaving Holy Nest] 58 60 Awakened a combat-oriented Secret Art after discarding less useful abilities to reinforce her core talents. Her skin gained a translucent silver luster, her injuries shed away with her old skin, and she gained concealed physical strength.

Background / History

Sally's parents were taken away by the Obsidian Hall when she was three. After relatives divided her parents' estate, she was placed in Blaney Orphanage, where she was forced into child labor. She worked with Crow in a textile mill, while Silverback was used as a porter in a dye house. The orphanage later dissolved following its owner's unnatural death, leaving the three children to survive together. 28 31

Unable to match Silverback's strength or Crow's stealth, Sally became the group's provider through trade with the Collector. Using the small lens left by her father, she could identify unusual objects by the colored mist surrounding them, then steal or acquire such items for the Collector's buyers. She avoided local targets and money, instead stealing seemingly worthless objects from passing travelers. 28 31

Her theft of Lude's silver-plated dinner knife brought him to the trio's abandoned-orphanage hideout. Though initially terrified of him, Sally prevented Silverback from escalating their confrontation and gradually became Lude's finder, student, and companion. 29 30 45

Appearance

Before meeting Lude, Sally wore worn, coarse clothing and usually went barefoot. After awakening as an Arcanist, her formerly gaunt frame became slender and stronger, while her skin developed a faintly silver, mother-of-pearl translucence. 44 58

  • Lavender eyes. 58
  • Usually barefoot; by the time she reaches Enamel City, she uses her toes as additional conduits for her Secret Art. 203
  • Wears fingerless gloves fitted with sewing needles for combat and field treatment. 77
  • Later adopts a dark-blue sailor uniform and woven spider-silk stirrup socks. 203

Personality

Sally is alert, quick-thinking, and highly sensitive to danger. Her intuition allows her to sense pursuit and read concealed hostility in others' expressions, a skill sharpened by surviving abuse in the orphanage. 32 74

Despite her difficult upbringing, she is protective of Silverback and Crow and often serves as the practical decision-maker of their trio. She is initially insecure about her poverty and appearance, but Lude's guidance on dignity and self-respect helps her grow more confident. 30 44 79

Her central ambition is power: first to control her own fate, then to avenge her parents and possibly rescue them from the Obsidian Hall. She deeply admires Lude, wants to remain at his side as an equal rather than a burden, and is willing to take dangerous paths to earn that strength. 42 45 51 58

Abilities & Skills

[Weaving Holy Nest]

Sally's Secret Art produces exceptionally durable threads used for restraint, ranged attacks, movement, stitching, and traps. She consciously sacrificed lesser abilities during her awakening to maximize this Art's remaining functions. 58 59

  • Spider Wire — Sticky, durable threads used to restrain targets or construct large anchored webs. During the battle with the Collector, Sally used it to pull trees and rubble onto her opponent. 59 67
  • Bullet Wire — A tension-loaded thread projectile capable of piercing a three-centimeter stone slab. 59
  • Razor Wire — Ultra-fine cutting wire used in close combat; it can slice through Lude's bullet-resistant muscle and is potentially lethal to ordinary people. 59
  • Thread limitations — Her threads must remain connected to her fingertips to maintain durability. Creating a large web quickly visibly exhausts her, and she needs time to seal or prepare an area. 62 67
  • Extra conduits — Remaining barefoot later gives her ten additional activation points through her toes. 203

Intuition and Emotional Reading

Sally possesses a highly developed sixth sense that warns her of danger, such as potential pursuers. She also reads malice and fear through a person's gaze with unusual accuracy. 32 74

  • Alerted Lude to suspicious followers in Blackwater Town. 32
  • Detected Mr. Lawrence's concealed malice despite his outward cooperation. 74
  • Experienced a bad feeling after the Collector's death, prompting the group to leave quickly. 67

Relic Detection

Her father's lens reveals mist-like colored auras around unusual objects, enabling her to identify valuable supernatural materials among otherwise mundane goods. 29 31

  • Built her livelihood by locating strange objects for the Collector. 31
  • Recognized the supernatural value of Lude's silver dinner knife. 29

Herbalism and Field Medicine

Sally taught herself herbal knowledge after leaving the orphanage, primarily to treat Crow's throat condition. Her methods are rough but practical, and she recognizes the medicinal uses of common plants. 43 44

  • Can prepare simple remedies, including an Evergreen Grass mixture for restoring energy and treating colds. 44
  • Uses needlework alongside herbal knowledge, giving her potential as a field medic. 59

Theft, Infiltration, and Reconnaissance

Sally is an agile thief and capable planner who specializes in obtaining unusual items, infiltrating secure locations, and gathering intelligence. 29 54 205

  • Escaped through windows and used concealed wire even before becoming an Arcanist. 29
  • Helped steal materials from the Collector's vault through careful planning. 54
  • Tracked Black Tide Society members across several cities and produced an embroidered map of their confirmed strongholds and safe houses. 204 205

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Heirloom lens — Left by her father; detects colored auras around unusual objects. 29 31
  • Piano wire wristband — Used during her early life as a thief. 29
  • Fingerless gloves with twelve sewing needles — Custom weapon forged by Lude to complement her thread-based Secret Art. 77
  • Resist-Steel Needles — Psionic needles that can glow, become optically invisible under her control, and dispel plague or corruption from wounds during stitching. 78

Relationships

  • Lude / “Mr. Hastings” — Mentor, employer, and the person Sally most admires. He recruits her, teaches her about power and dignity, and helps her awaken as an Arcanist. 45 51 58
  • Silverback — Childhood friend and protector from Blaney Orphanage. He relies on Sally's intuition and decision-making while serving as the trio's main fighter. 30 31
  • Crow — Childhood friend and fellow orphan. Sally learned herbalism partly to treat his throat condition; they work together in reconnaissance and planning. 31 44 205
  • The Collector — Sally's former buyer and employer, who purchased the strange objects Sally acquired. Sally later helped immobilize her during Lude's attack on the mansion. 31 45 67
  • Sally's parents — Taken away by the Obsidian Hall; their fate remains the driving reason behind Sally's desire for revenge and power. 28 42 60
