During their rest, the hunters had shared a grand meal of roasted intermediate-rank Magic Beast Meat. Everything about today should have been wonderful.

Yet Kaiyi knew that from the moment she and the knights began to fall into a disadvantage against multiple intermediate-rank Dao-Yuan, command of the entire hunting party had fallen into the paws of the Frost-Wolf Totapara. It was the Frost-Wolf who had directed Black Tiger to eat the intermediate-rank Dao-Yuan first and strive for a breakthrough. After that, the two beasts had used the trapped knights as bait, preparing to strike when the intermediate-rank Dao-Yuan fought over them—only they had not expected Kaiyi to merely be pretending to have fainted.
