Background
Bai Xiaoqi was originally Bai Sanniang, a member of the Qingqiu Fox Clan. Qingqiu Mountain was destroyed by an unknown powerful enemy, leaving its lineage devastated. Her ancestor saved her, but departed to seek vengeance after entrusting her with the reality that most of the clan had perished. 32
After her death or rebirth, Sanniang was remade as a summoned fox under Shimura Xian Yu's master-servant contract. Fearing that Xian Yu would consider her human form too conspicuous or her strength inadequate, she transformed into a miniature three-tailed fox and introduced herself as the male “Bai Sanlang.” Xian Yu renamed her Bai Xiaoqi. 32
Xian Yu obtained her from a Black Iron Treasure Chest and tested her against Fahai, where their side drew the confrontation. He formally gave her the name Bai Xiaoqi shortly afterward. 4 5
Her true identity was exposed when her younger sister, later named Lin Xi, addressed her as “Sanniang.” Bai Xiaoqi then revealed that the Qingqiu foxes had been reborn after dying once and credited Xian Yu with allowing their return. 48
Appearance
Bai Xiaoqi can shift between an enormous combat form, a pocket-sized fox, and a human-like appearance.
- Three-tailed form — Brownish-red fur, sharp claws, intimidating fangs, and three thick tails; after Spirit Rice supplementation, she grew beyond three meters long. 16 30
- Miniature form — Palm-sized and deliberately cute; she uses this form to avoid attention and ingratiate herself with powerful people. 18
- Human-like form — Described as extraordinarily handsome and androgynous, with a pleasant neutral voice. 30
- Six-tailed form — Snow-white fur, a body length of roughly 25 meters, and six tails extending more than 30 meters. 47
Personality
Bai Xiaoqi is clever, highly adaptable, and acutely conscious of power dynamics. She concealed her gender from Xian Yu to protect herself, quickly learned how to survive under an unfamiliar master, and adopted whatever form or demeanor seemed most useful. 18 32
Her relationship with Xian Yu is marked by fear, banter, resentment, and growing loyalty. She initially resented his constant commands and refused to assist him during the crisis involving Shinozaki Ayumi, demanding that he beg for her help. 25 26 Later, believing Xian Yu had chosen her evolution over changing her gender, she privately resolved to protect him even at the cost of her own life. 31
She is deeply attached to her surviving Qingqiu kin, particularly her younger sister Lin Xi. When Xian Yu learned her real identity, Bai Xiaoqi pleaded that he not involve Lin Xi and stated she would rather die than allow harm to come to her sister. 48
Abilities & Skills
Charm Eyes and Genjutsu
Bai Xiaoqi possesses an innate fox genjutsu ability known as Charm Eyes.
- Can incapacitate opponents through illusion; it previously instantly defeated Fahai. 9
- Created a convincing illusion in which Danzō's attack appeared to pass through her body and destroy Xian Yu's bed. 14
- Her illusion was detected and dispelled by Danzō, despite catching him by surprise. 14
- Her genjutsu became stronger after evolving into a Six-Tailed Fox. 47
- Charm Eyes is an innate ability and cannot be taught to Xian Yu. 9
Transformation
Bai Xiaoqi can freely alter her size and appearance.
- Can reduce herself to a palm-sized fox for concealment or social situations. 18
- Can assume a human-like form. 30
- Can expand into a large combat form immediately after being summoned. 16 25
- Her tails are highly sensitive to touch. 30
Physical Combat
In combat form, Bai Xiaoqi is a powerful close-range summon.
- Uses her massive size, claws, fangs, and tails to intimidate and overwhelm opponents. 16
- Easily subdued Inuzuka Takuya and his ninja hound Aomaru, causing the remaining third-year students to flee. 16
- Can rapidly excavate earth with her claws, clearing a deep pit in under five minutes. 30
Elemental Ninjutsu
After becoming a Six-Tailed Fox, Bai Xiaoqi gained elemental chakra transformations.
- Wind Release
- Water Release
- Fire Release
- Her chakra level after evolution was described as terrifyingly high. 47
Qingqiu Fox Summoning Scroll
Her evolution produced a white Qingqiu Fox Clan summoning scroll and upgraded the Summoning Space to Level 2. 47
- The scroll contains Qingqiu foxes who were at the three-tailed stage. 47
- Xian Yu sensed thirty-eight potential summons through the scroll, though his chakra could initially sustain only one at a time. 48
- Unlike Bai Xiaoqi, ordinary Qingqiu summons are not subject to Xian Yu's absolute control and consume chakra to call forth. 48
Relationships
- Shimura Xian Yu — Master and summoner. He named her Bai Xiaoqi and holds absolute control over her through their system-based master-servant bond; their volatile relationship gradually develops into mutual reliance. 5 25 30 48
- Lin Xi (Xiao Liu) — Younger sister and fellow reborn Qingqiu fox. Bai Xiaoqi is fiercely protective of her. 48
- Qingqiu Fox Clan — Her original clan, whose destruction shaped her fearfulness and attachment to the surviving foxes. 32 47
- Shimura Danzō — Xian Yu's father; Bai Xiaoqi used genjutsu to evade him and falsely presented Qingqiu Mountain as a fourth sacred land. 14
- Uzumaki Mito — Bai Xiaoqi instinctively recognized her as dangerous, transformed into a mini-fox, and attempted to win her favor. 18
- Shinozaki Ayumi — Xian Yu ordered Bai Xiaoqi to save her during the Black Wind Stronghold battle, but Xiaoqi refused out of resentment toward her master. 25 26
Story Role / Major Arcs
Early Summon
Xian Yu receives Bai Xiaoqi from a Black Iron Treasure Chest, establishes a master-servant contract, and tests her in battle. She becomes his first major summoned ally and is named in Chapter 5. 4 5
Academy Battles
Bai Xiaoqi's growing strength gives Xian Yu an overwhelming advantage against academy students. She appears in combat form to defeat Inuzuka Takuya and help subdue several third-year seniors. 16
Qingqiu Bluff
When confronted by Danzō, Bai Xiaoqi uses genjutsu to escape and claims to hail from Qingqiu Mountain, supposedly a fourth sacred land comparable to Mount Myōboku, Ryūchi Cave, and Shikkotsu Forest. 14
Black Wind Stronghold Crisis
During the battle at Yangxi Village, Bai Xiaoqi refuses Xian Yu's command to rescue the severely wounded Ayumi. Her refusal exposes the depth of her resentment and contributes to Xian Yu's resolve not to rely on her blindly. 25 26 30
Evolution into a Six-Tailed Fox
Following the system's compensation prompt, Bai Xiaoqi is sent away for a month-long evolution. Her return as a giant Six-Tailed White Fox destroys Xian Yu's house upon summoning and alerts Konoha's Anbu. The Third Hokage classifies the incident as an S-rank secret. 33 47
Return of the Qingqiu Clan
Bai Xiaoqi's evolved summoning scroll allows Xian Yu to call her younger sister, Lin Xi. Lin Xi's use of “Sanniang” reveals Bai Xiaoqi's true identity and exposes her long-standing deception about her gender. 48
Notable Quotes
“Hmph, you scarred-face, what are you being fierce for? My Qingqiu Mountain Fox Immortal clan is the fourth holy land...” 14
“I've long since had enough of you, always bossing me around all day. Saving people? If you're so capable, go save them yourself.” 26
“It is because of him that we were able to be reborn. From now on, call him Master along with me, and you must listen to Master well!” 48
Trivia
- Bai Xiaoqi was named after Xian Yu rejected her original self-introduction as Bai Sanlang. 32
- Her name and identity are deliberately misleading: “Bai Xiaoqi” is a name bestowed by Xian Yu, while “Bai Sanniang” is her original identity. 32 48
- Xian Yu can summon Bai Xiaoqi without chakra expenditure, unlike the Qingqiu foxes called through the evolved summoning scroll. 48
- Before her evolution, Spirit Rice was the primary reason for her unusually rapid growth. 17
