Background / History
The Xia Clan's political order includes the Longshan Empire, whose lowest noble rank is baron. By the era of Dongbo Lie, lower titles could officially be bought and sold, reflecting the empire's long decline from its stricter founding period. 1
Its world-monitoring institution has existed under different names across eras. Dragon Mountain Tower monitors the world and serves Transcendent beings; an earlier version was called Liexiong Hall. 92
The clan has endured repeated existential crises, including wars against the Magic Beast race, Abyssal Demons, and invaders from other worlds. Its survival has depended on preserving its people, inheritances, and Transcendents through the Xinhuo World when the mortal world becomes untenable. 104 143
Following the war against the Sorcerer God and Great Demon God, Dongbo Xueying became lord of the material realm. Xia Emperor City subsequently replaced Xia Capital City as the core of Xia Clan rule. 407 413
Governance and Institutions
Elder Council
The Xia Clan Elder Council is the clan's highest governing body, responsible for ensuring its prosperity and continued existence. Human Demigods may become elders unless they belong to the Demon God Society, Blood Blade Tavern, or Earth Temple. 128 130
- Palace Master of Xinhuo Palace — holds exceptional authority within Xinhuo World and is required to be absolutely loyal to the Xia Clan. 128 143
- Candidate Elder program — selects promising Flying Heaven Level Transcendents for intensive cultivation, aiming to produce Demigod-level pillars of the clan. 130 131
- Alternate elders — exceptional Transcendents such as Dongbo Xueying may be appointed to this status before becoming Demigods. 129
Merit System
A Grand Alchemy Mage established a merit system to assign dangerous or demanding tasks to Xia Clan powerhouses. Completing missions earns merit points, which can be exchanged through the Exchange Codex. 28
| System element | Function |
|---|---|
| Black Iron Token | Establishes identity and grants special authority to its holder. 28 |
| Mission dossiers | List tasks ranging from eliminating bandits to recovering lost items from dangerous regions. 28 |
| Merit points | Reward contributions made to humanity and the Xia Clan. 28 |
| Exchange Codex | Offers worldly goods, miraculous items, and even extraordinary political or military outcomes for sufficient merit. 28 |
Territory and Population
Xia Clan World
The mortal world is the Xia Clan's foundation: a stable and fertile realm capable of sustaining enormous populations. The Six Great Transcendence Organizations maintain outside headquarters there to guard against Abyssal Demons and invaders from other planes. 104
County towns and large villages are among the most vulnerable areas during Demon incursions, as the Xia Clan cannot establish Transcendence-suppressing formations in every settlement. Provincial capitals, prefectural cities, and locations linked to Transcendent families receive greater protection. 170
Over a million years, the population grew to roughly ten times its former size. Humans expanded into the Destruction Mountain Range and Northern Great Snowfield by using Transcendent methods to make those regions habitable. 648
Xinhuo World and Xia Capital City
Xinhuo World serves as the Xia Clan's refuge, fortress, and reserve of civilization. It contains several billion mortals and preserves nearly all important Xia Clan inheritances. Deities cannot enter this large Transcendent world. 104
Xia Capital City was formerly the true political center of the Xia Clan. Its central Xinhuo Palace symbolizes the passing of the flame from generation to generation, while the city's layered formations have repelled foreign Demigod invaders armed with divine artifacts. 104
- Dragon Mountain Tower and the Empire's armies are directed from Xia Capital City rather than the ceremonial imperial city in the outer world. 104
- The city houses many Title-level cultivators and nearly all Flying Heaven Level Transcendents, while Saint-level experts and Demigods maintain residences there. 104
- The nine drumbeats of Xinhuo Palace signify that a cataclysm has descended and full-scale war is imminent. 367
Defenses and Clan-Protecting Assets
- Xinhuo Palace — a spatial clan-protecting divine artifact that controls the entirety of Xinhuo World. 143
- Snow Elder's divine artifact — the Xia Clan's most powerful clan-protecting treasure, but one too difficult for ordinary Demigods to wield. A compatible Demigod could use it to contend with a Deity. 143 144
- Ding Nine Warship — a colossal divine-realm warship used to mobilize Demigods and conduct major military operations. 252 288 368
- Divine-realm war soldiers — artifacts sent back by Xia Clan ancestors; under the world's restrictions, they can exert peak Demigod-level power. 203
- Xia Clan Fire — an emergency code known to Transcendents. A communication bracelet can transmit the user's location when activated—or automatically upon the owner's death—allowing rapid reinforcements. 96
- Celestial Vault Prison — a prison holding powerful foreign races and Transcendent natives. 153
Cultivation and Inheritances
The Xia Clan preserves extensive records of its Transcendent predecessors in the Xia History Pavilion, including gold-foil dossiers for every recorded Transcendent. The sheer volume of Demigod, Saint, and Flying Heaven Level records makes fully studying them a decades-long undertaking even for a Transcendent. 138
Its ancestors who ascended to the Divine Realm sent Battle Qi secret arts and body-cultivation methods back to their homeland. Water Source Emperor, founder of Water Source Taoist Temple, was one such ancestor. 103
By the later era, Battle Qi methods, spells, and other cultivation techniques had become available to every Xia Clan member rather than remaining privileges of nobles. 648
Major Conflicts
Magic Beast Race
Humanity and the Magic Beast race have warred since their origins, with neither side able to fully exterminate the other. When the Magic Beast race once produced a Deity, the Xia Clan retreated into Xinhuo World until that Deity was forced out by the world's laws, then reclaimed the mortal world. 93 104
Demon God Society and Demon Invasion
The Demon God Society consists of selfish Transcendents who defected to Demon Gods for power or treasure. Its members conceal their identities because the organization is weaker than the Xia Clan's principal factions. 93 191
When a massive Demon army infiltrated the Xia Clan World, the Xia Clan Fire Palace began hunting the Demon God Society without mercy, fearing collaboration between the local organization and the invading Demons. 163
The Xia Clan elders later chose to strike Demon-held Transcendence small worlds before the enemy could entrench itself and repeatedly deploy mana avatars. 195 Dongbo Xueying's destruction of three Demon lairs forced the remaining lairs to retreat, reversing the wider war's momentum. 220
After Dongbo Xueying located the Demon God Society Headquarters, Palace Master Chen ordered all Xia Clan Demigods to attack. The headquarters was captured with unexpected speed. 252 258
Sorcerer God and Great Demon God
The Sorcerer God and Great Demon God sought to conquer and occupy the Xia Clan World, intending to seize God World–grade secret arts and other resources. Dongbo Xueying was regarded as their final obstacle. 382
During the decisive conflict, the Xia Clan mobilized through the Ding Nine Warship and Xinhuo Palace's war signal. Its Transcendents endured the battle while Dongbo Xueying became the force capable of changing its outcome. 367 368 396
Relationships
- Six Great Transcendence Organizations — Earth Temple, Blood Blade Tavern, Black and White Mountain, Cloud Mist City, Water Source Taoist Temple, and Sea God Palace collectively protect the Xia Clan's heritage; the Earth Temple and Blood Blade Tavern remain excluded from the Elder Council due to their external loyalties. 93 128
- Dragon Mountain Tower — world-monitoring organization that distributes mission information and assists with intelligence. 28 92
- Dongbo Xueying — Transcendent, alternate elder, decisive wartime defender, and later lord of the Xia Clan World material realm. 129 220 407
- Yu Jingqiu — identified by Snow Elder as a compatible future wielder of the Xia Clan's strongest clan-protecting divine artifact; the Elder Council commits exceptional resources to nurturing her toward Demigod status. 143 144
- Magic Beast Race — longstanding racial enemy whose Deity once forced the Xia Clan to retreat into Xinhuo World. 93 104
- Demon God Society — internal enemy formed by defected Transcendents and hunted during the Demon invasion. 93 163
- Blood Blade Tavern and Earth Temple — ancient organizations associated with the Xia Clan's world, but their Demigods cannot access certain Xia Clan secrets or serve as Xia Clan elders. 28 128 266
