The faint light outside filtered through the gap in the curtains and fell across the wall. The black figures seemed to come alive. It was as if, unless he kept his eyes on them, they would vanish from the wall the next moment and run off somewhere else.
Chen Ge held his position without moving, gripping the scissors tightly as every muscle in his body tensed.
"Something just moved under the covers."
This dorm room was definitely not as safe as it seemed. Chen Ge's heart leaped into his throat.
He didn't lift the covers to look. If a ghost was crouched beneath them, it would still be there whether he pulled them back or not. The thing wouldn't leave just because he saw it. In fact, looking would only force him to face the danger too soon.
The knocking gradually faded. Something seemed to crawl past his feet, and that ominous feeling grew stronger.
Goosebumps rose across Chen Ge's skin. He could clearly feel something crawling up his leg.
Cold sweat beaded on his cheeks. The atmosphere in the dorm room grew more and more bizarre. After perhaps a dozen seconds, the knocking at the door suddenly stopped!
Chen Ge looked back. The door remained shut, but all five black figures on the dorm room walls had vanished.
He glanced around and saw that the tattered blankets on the other five beds had all bulged upward, as if someone were lying beneath each one!
"Did they come back?"
The strange sensation had already spread to his calves. Chen Ge was certain something had crawled under his covers!
But even as an image of a human head appearing beneath the blanket flashed through his mind, Chen Ge remained astonishingly calm.
