"Is there anything seriously wrong with you?" Chen Ge hurriedly caught Ying Bai by the arm. The girl instinctively took a step back, but Chen Ge still managed to grab her.
She didn't struggle, staying quietly by Chen Ge's side like a little cat.
"Until your Grandfather comes, I'll take care of you." Chen Ge gently patted the girl's head, his fingers brushing through her black hair. "I'll take you away and show you the outside world. I couldn't give you happiness while you were alive, but at least after death, I'll let you experience the warmth of the human world."
The girl didn't quite understand what Chen Ge meant. She only nodded obediently and asked timidly, "What... is your name? Are you another child your Grandfather adopted?"
"I'm more like someone your Grandfather entrusted with your care. I'll protect you and make sure no one hurts you again." Chen Ge picked up his Backpack. As he was about to leave, he glanced toward the room at the very back of the Infirmary.
The Infirmary at Spirit Channeling School had four rooms. Ying Bai and Yan Fei stayed in the third, and there was one more at the very end.
"Ying Bai and Yan Fei seem to be in pretty serious condition. Were they still not bad enough to be admitted to that last room?" Chen Ge was curious. He crouched in front of Ying Bai. "Do you know who's staying in the Fourth Ward?"
"Only students and teachers who are seriously injured or have completely broken down and gone mad are sent in there." Ying Bai stared wide-eyed. She seemed afraid of the Fourth Ward, and as she spoke, she unconsciously edged away from it. "Lots of people have gone into that room, but hardly anyone ever comes out.
