Background

The Book of Truth was near a lightning-created spatial rift when Tang De was killed in his original world. It protected his soul, then accepted him as its master because its immature artifact spirit needed an intelligent controller to escape the space-time turbulence. At the time, it had no reserve power and could not actively exert its legendary capabilities within the storm. 1

After drifting for an unknown length of time, the Book passed through a tiny rift in another universe's crystal wall and fell into its Prime Material Plane. It crushed the Gale Wolf King that had just killed the original Donald Merlinar, drained the beast's fourth-tier Magic Core, and restored part of its functions. 2 3
