Geography and Layout

Giant Stone City is a remote border city of Selt and is considered second-rate compared with major metropolises such as the Royal Capital. Its annual tax revenue is stated to be about 5,000 Gold Sol. 12

• Northern approaches — Green Cloak Forest and the Cloud-Rising Mountains lie to the north; the surrounding northern lands contain relatively few manors because of the danger posed by magical beasts. 13
• Nearby settlements — Red Maple Town is one of the three major towns surrounding the city. 7

Temple of the Goddess of Agriculture

Giant Stone City has a formal Temple of the Goddess of Agriculture, led locally by a Bishop and supported by many Priests. Its presence helps prevent undead incidents around the city cemetery, where many noble ancestors are buried. 7

Mage Association

The Giant Stone City Mage Association is a gathering place for resident and traveling spellcasters, funded by local nobles and organized by mages. It provides lodging and social space, certifies Apprentice Mage and low-level mage qualifications, and maintains a library adequate for apprentices and mages below Bronze rank. 14 16

The Gold Sol Auction House is the largest and only auction house in Giant Stone City. It handles luxury goods, artworks, magical materials, and high-value weapons, while also gathering intelligence on notable clients. 11 12

• A Knight Greatsword auctioned there sold for 7,300 Gold Sol; Donald received more than 7,100 Gold Sol after commission. 12
• The auction house’s report on Donald was quickly delivered to the heads of the city’s major factions. 12

Goblin Magic General Store

A mysterious-looking Goblin magic store operates at the end of the commercial street near the noble district. Though commoners believe it is heavily protected and open only to mages, nobles, and powerful Professionals, it primarily sells low-level alchemical items and basic spell materials. 8

• Its proprietor, Old Deli, had run the store for fifty years as of Donald’s visit. 8
• The shop is part of the wider Goblin Commercial Federation’s merchant network. 8

Noble Council Administration Office

The city’s Noble Council Administration Office manages noble affairs, including manor transactions. Its officials are either appointed by the Royal Family or selected from local noble families. 13

Political Situation

Viscount Macbeth serves as the nominal Governor of North Shire. However, his effective authority is limited: he directly controls Giant Stone City, the Macbeth family’s southeastern strongholds, Distant Mountain Town, and Lord Gerry’s fief, while places such as Red Maple Town, Bloodstone Fortress, and Flash Gold Town remain outside his full control. 32 42

After Macbeth’s departure, the Macbeth Family’s influence within the city declined sharply, and even Gerry’s family lost standing among the city’s influential figures. 197

History

Giant Stone City’s northern frontier has repeatedly been shaped by magical-beast threats. A hereditary knight’s territory near the Green Cloak Forest was once among the fertile lands surrounding the city, but it was destroyed when magical beasts from the Cloud-Rising Mountains rioted decades earlier. 13

Donald first began visiting the city while seeking mage training, magical materials, and commercial opportunities. He bought an introductory mage text from Old Deli’s shop, later used the Gold Sol Auction House to obtain funds, became certified at the Mage Association, and established connections with its head mage, Messer. 8 11 14 26

An attack involving a mage erupted in the city’s civilian district, prompting Messer and several Bronze mages to intervene after detecting the magical disturbance. 37

Later, a checkpoint north of Giant Stone City was dismantled under outside pressure. After commercial suppression against Dalaran proved ineffective, Macbeth sent residents toward Dalaran under the pretexts of business, apprenticeship, and job seeking in an effort to weaken Dalaran’s influence. 132

The Kingdom’s council subsequently chose Giant Stone City as the destination for aid connected to a demon-disaster mission. 284
