Background / History
Tang San awakens Blue Silver Grass in Holy Soul Village. Su Yuntao initially classifies it as a waste martial soul and records Tang San as having no innate soul power, but a second test reveals that he possesses Level 1 Soul Power. He then joins Lin Mo and Su Yuntao on their journey to the Soul Hunting Forest to obtain a first soul ring. 1
During the expedition, Tang San witnesses Lin Mo kill and absorb the ring of a four-hundred-year Single-Horned Fire Lizard. Using the Mysterious Heaven Skill and Purple Demon Eye, he recognizes that an unknown ferocious power within Lin Mo is devouring the ring’s energy; he prevents Su Yuntao from interrupting the absorption. Tang San subsequently kills and absorbs a Mandala Snake soul ring himself. 2
At Nuoding Academy, Tang San becomes Lin Mo’s roommate and joins him in confronting the bullying of the work-study students. He studies Lin Mo’s anomalous combat methods and spirit-ring configuration, becoming increasingly curious about his background and evolving martial soul. 3
Grandmaster Yu Xiaogang accepts Tang San and Lin Mo as students. Tang San undergoes extreme physical, soul-power-control, perception, and combat training, while regularly sparring with Lin Mo. Grandmaster identifies Tang San’s technique as varied and refined but lacking killing intent and decisive offense. 4 5
Tang San serves as the controller of Lin Mo and Xiao Wu’s three-person team. During the Soto Great Soul Arena tournament, he restrains and tracks Zhu Zhuqing with Blue Silver Grass, coordinates attacks with Xiao Wu, and helps Nuoding Team 13 defeat Shrek Academy. 5 6
When Martial Soul Hall begins scrutinizing Lin Mo, Tang San agrees that he, Lin Mo, and Xiao Wu must protect one another’s secrets. He and Xiao Wu guard Lin Mo during his forced breakthrough to Level 30, though they remain behind when Lin Mo leaves to hunt the Thunder Dragon Python. 7
Tang San later audits Grandmaster’s theory lessons and prepares to seek a Ghost Vine soul ring to develop Blue Silver Grass’s offensive power. He accompanies Lin Mo and Xiao Wu into Dragon Valley, using Blue Silver Grass and prepared Ghost Vine seeds to support the hunt for the Frost Wind Dragon. 9 11
He leaves Nuoding Academy alongside Lin Mo and Xiao Wu and enrolls early at Shrek Academy. 12
