Shisui was recognized as an exceptional Uchiha talent from an early age. Though he could have graduated from the Ninja Academy sooner, he reportedly stayed two extra years to complete its Will of Fire curriculum. The Third Hokage offered him a place in the Hokage Direct Anbu, but Shisui instead entered the Konoha Military Police Force. He hoped that learning from Uchiha Shingen—whose conduct had improved the Police Force's public approval—would help repair the divide between Konoha and the Uchiha clan. 1 2

Assigned to Shingen's South District 4 squad, Shisui initially struggled with his captain's detached approach to police work. His attempt to stop a pickpocket was turned into a public spectacle portraying him as an Uchiha abusing a sick former ninja. After Shingen defused the incident, Shisui captured the thief and recovered most of the stolen money, determined to clear both his own name and that of the Uchiha. 3 4

Shisui became a chunin at a young age and tested Shingen in a disguised sparring match. The encounter revealed Shingen's Three-Tomoe Sharingan, overwhelming taijutsu, and Jonin-level combat ability; Shisui escaped a decisive blow with the Body Flicker Technique but was injured. Shortly afterward, he and Shingen rejected Danzo's recruitment into Root and were saved from Root's attack by Jiraiya. 11 13 14 15
