Background
Little Goku lives on Mount Paozu, where the forest serves as his playground and hunting ground. He treats the Four-Star Ball in his home as his grandfather, bows to it before leaving to gather food, and initially has little knowledge of other people or ordinary worldly things. 22 24
While fishing with his tail, Goku is accidentally struck by Bulma's car. Believing Bulma and Zhou Zilong to be monsters stealing his catch, he attacks them until Zilong explains that they are human. Goku remarks that, apart from his grandfather, they are the first humans he has met. 23
Appearance
Little Goku is a short, chubby-faced boy with hedgehog-like upright hair and an initially visible Saiyan tail. He wears a blue-purple vest-style martial-arts top, blue trousers, and black training shoes. 22
- His tail is used as a fishing lure and is later revealed as the trigger for his Great Ape transformation. 23 38
- He is listed as 1 m tall and 27 kg in Zhou Zilong's scouting data. 23
- His tail is severed while he is in Great Ape form. 38
Personality
Goku is innocent, direct, and curious about a world beyond Mount Paozu. He mistakes a Dragon Ball for Bulma's “grandpa,” finds gold and jewels useless because they cannot be eaten, and tests Oolong's gender through childlike reasoning. 24 25 28
He eagerly accepts challenges and wants to protect others, but his confidence can become recklessness. He rushes to fight the Ox-King despite the enormous difference in strength and becomes distracted by hunger during his battle with Yamcha. 26 29 31
Goku is highly receptive to guidance. After realizing that the world contains stronger fighters than he expected, he chooses to leave and train under Master Roshi, looking forward to a future rematch with Zhou Zilong. 30 38
Abilities & Skills
Saiyan Physiology
Goku is a Saiyan with exceptionally high latent potential; Zhou Zilong's scan records his potential value at 10^48, with only 1% development progress. 23
- Displays physical strength sufficient to lift and crush a boulder larger than himself. 24
- Can lift Bulma and Zhou Zilong's car after being struck by it. 23
- Retains enough durability to emerge from rubble after Yamcha's Wolf Fang Fist buries him beneath collapsed stone pillars. 29
- Has a latent heart virus noted in his scouting data. 23
Martial Arts
Goku fights with fast, evasive movements and natural physical instincts, despite his limited formal combat experience. 23 29
- Defeats the Bear Monster after dodging its sword attacks and striking it away with one punch. 24
- Uses acrobatics and rapid movement to evade Yamcha's sword attacks. 29
- Is overpowered by the Ox-King, whose combat power is recorded as 80 against Goku's 10. 23 31
- Needs further foundational training, as recognized by both Zhou Zilong and Master Roshi. 30 32
Ki Control
Zhou Zilong teaches Goku to calm his mind, sense the energy within his body, and draw that ki into his hands. 30
- Can form a small orange sphere of ki after focused practice. 30
- This basic control becomes the foundation for his use of the Kamehameha. 30 32
Kamehameha
Goku learns the Kamehameha by imitating Zhou Zilong after watching him extinguish Fire Mountain. 32
- Produces a smaller blue-white energy blast on his first successful attempt. 32
- Uses the technique against Pilaf's stone chamber wall, opening only a small hole. 35
- His early Kamehameha lacks the power needed to fully break through heavy confinement. 35
Great Ape Transformation
When exposed to a full moon, Goku transforms into a massive black-furred Great Ape and loses his reason. 37
- Breaks out of Pilaf's sealed chamber and demolishes much of Pilaf's castle. 37
- Is unharmed by Pilaf's projectile weapons and swats away the gang's aircraft. 37
- His tail is extremely durable; Yamcha's improvised stone blade shatters against it. 37
- The form is stopped when Zhou Zilong severs his tail with sword-qi. 38
