Background

Reke is a Saiyan who escapes Planet Vegeta and crash-lands on Udrapa Planet as a child. Believing the world to be low-level, he is alarmed to discover an entity with 3,000 combat power and establishes a cave-and-stream shelter instead of venturing recklessly into the wilderness. 3

Initially unable to properly sense or control his energy, Reke survives by hunting local beasts, training his body, and gradually learning ki manipulation through memories of techniques from his past life. His first battle ends with him accidentally killing a much weaker two-headed wolf-like creature in a single punch. 4 6

After being badly injured by a colossal monster, Reke discovers that his ki and physical condition improve through recovery. He trains for revenge, defeats the monster, and recognizes that his Saiyan instincts can push him into dangerously battle-hungry states. 7 8 10

Five years after arriving on Udrapa, Reke leaves his isolated dwelling to explore the planet. His encounter with the Budaso Adventure Team gives him his first sustained contact with intelligent life on Udrapa; he later joins the Adventurers Guild, performs missions, and works with Professor Plus to obtain a gravity chamber and replacement spaceship. 11 15 20 28 31

Reke eventually leaves Udrapa Planet in search of Earth. On the way, he destroys Cooler's Armored Squadron and defeats Cooler before traveling to Planet Yardrat, where Chahu teaches him advanced ki control and Instant Transmission. 54 55 56

After reaching Earth and becoming involved with Goku and the Z Fighters, Reke develops from an isolated survivor into someone who accepts others as companions. His abnormal survival is later investigated by the Grand Priest, who notes that Reke should originally have died on Udrapa Planet. 103 110 114

The Grand Priest eventually sends Reke to the Dragon Ball GT timeline to oppose timeline destroyers such as Towa and Mira. His ki is sealed upon arrival, leaving him with less than one billion combat power, but he continues protecting the timeline alongside its Goku and Vegeta. 157 159 175 177

Appearance

Reke first appears as a small, baby-faced Saiyan boy. He grows older over the course of his years on Udrapa Planet, but is frequently underestimated because of his youthful appearance. 3 15 38

  • Wears a yellow-and-black Frieza Force combat suit when arriving on Udrapa Planet. 3
  • Has a Saiyan tail, which he uses directly in combat. 15 44
  • Is described as approximately 1.2 meters tall during his first meeting with the Budaso Adventure Team. 15
  • Super Saiyan 4 gives him long black hair and red fur across his upper body. 90
  • His Bloodline Ascension form changes his hair to red and intensifies his primal aura. 168

Personality

Reke is cautious by nature despite his Saiyan bloodline. He avoids unnecessary risks when safer options exist, hides rather than confronts unknown threats, and refuses to gamble his life on an unwinnable fight. 3 8 157

He is intensely committed to self-improvement, but his pursuit of strength is tempered by an awareness of its dangers. He suppresses his growth when he fears Saiyan instincts are overtaking his judgment, trains carefully under gravity rather than chasing raw power alone, and postpones unstable transformation attempts until he is prepared. 19 20 34 175

Reke can be blunt, impatient, and frighteningly ruthless toward hostile enemies. However, he does not seek violence for its own sake: he refuses to use force to make money, is gentle with frightened civilians, and respects the Yardratians enough to ask for instruction rather than demand it. 26 55 56

His early detachment gradually gives way to protectiveness and genuine attachment. He worries about Dong Kang being sent into danger, shows unusual tolerance toward Xin Yue, and comes to regard Goku and the others as companions rather than distant figures from his memories. 53 114

Abilities & Skills

Saiyan Physiology

Reke possesses the combat potential, immense appetite, recovery growth, tail, and battle instincts of a Saiyan. Severe injuries can trigger major increases in his power, though his instincts also create destructive urges that he must consciously restrain. 4 10 24

  • Gains strength through training, combat, and recovery from injury. 6 24
  • Has a massive appetite and rapidly consumes large quantities of food after exertion or injury. 18 23 103
  • Can use his tail in close combat for strikes, restraints, and surprise attacks. 44 114
  • Feared involuntary Great Ape transformation under a full moon due to the risk of losing control. 8

Ki Perception and Control

Reke progresses from being unable to sense his own energy to detecting ki across enormous distances, suppressing his presence, creating barriers, and studying advanced applications on Yardrat. 3 7 11 56

  • Suppresses his energy signature, including lowering it to 10 or 8,000 combat power when dealing with others. 15 29
  • Detects distant threats and monitors Earth for unfamiliar energy signatures. 7 175
  • Learns advanced ki perception and control under Chahu. 56
  • Can form energy barriers that withstand attacks without damage. 175

Flight and Speed

Reke discovers flight on Udrapa and practices it extensively. His movement later becomes fast enough to vanish from the perception of ordinary fighters and cross extreme distances rapidly. 5 15

  • Flies through ki manipulation. 5 8
  • Travels on foot at up to ten miles per minute when restraining himself from flying. 12
  • Uses high-speed movement to appear beside opponents before they can react. 15 43

Energy Techniques

Reke develops a broad range of ki attacks through experimentation, combat, and imitation of techniques known from his past-life knowledge. 6 8 35

  • Ki Blast / Energy Sphere — Fires and compresses blue or golden energy attacks; early control limits his ability to compress larger spheres. 6 8
  • King’s Tactics — A barrage of energy blasts used against a Rock Monster. 21
  • Solar Flare — A mastered blinding technique used with Afterimage to defeat Octopus Head. 35 45
  • Afterimage — Creates deceptive afterimages through ki manipulation; used for evasion and counterattacks. 35 45
  • Dulong Destruction Cannon — A high-output attack that devastates a hundred-mile radius. 100
  • Ultimate Annihilation Wave — A blue, electrically charged sphere launched against Rego in the space-time tunnel. 212

Instant Transmission

After learning Yardratian ki applications, Reke masters Instant Transmission and uses it to travel by locking onto energy signatures. 56

  • Requires a detectable ki signature as a destination reference. 56
  • Allows near-instant travel, motivating Reke to avoid lengthy farewells before leaving Udrapa. 54

Transformations

Reke’s transformation path is built around mastering his Saiyan bloodline without surrendering his mind to it. 52 66 175

  • Super Saiyan — Achieves and controls Full Power Super Saiyan, while recognizing the initial stage’s instability and stamina drain. 52
  • Golden Great Ape — Attempts the form as a step toward Super Saiyan 4 but fails and is severely injured. 66
  • Super Saiyan 4 — A red-furred, primal transformation with vast power; also called Great Ape Super Saiyan. 90 162
  • Super Saiyan 4 Limit Breakthrough — A higher state attained without divine ki. 97 177
  • Bloodline Ascension — A further Super Saiyan 4-related transformation completed after the Tournament of Power. 175

Equipment / Items

  • Scouter — Used upon arrival on Udrapa Planet to read local combat power; Reke later intends to destroy it rather than depend on it. 3
  • Frieza Force spacecraft — His original escape vessel; offered to Professor Plus as the basis for gravity-chamber and spaceship research. 20
  • Gravity Chamber — Built with Professor Plus; Reke uses it for controlled training, reaching 60 times gravity. 31 35
  • Adventurer’s license — Used to register with the Adventurers Guild and access missions. 28 38
  • Hoi-Poi Capsule house — Used to create a temporary two-story training residence in the GT timeline. 175

Relationships

  • Professor Plus — Scientist who builds Reke’s gravity chamber and spaceship in exchange for access to his original spacecraft; their relationship shifts from cooperation to a tense superior-subordinate dynamic. 20 24 29 54
  • Lola — Budaso Adventure Team member who helps Reke navigate city life and repeatedly provides food; Reke shows her a notably softer side. 19 20 23
  • Four-Eyes / Pat — Leader of the Budaso Adventure Team and Reke’s early guide to Udrapa society; respects and fears Reke’s overwhelming power. 15 16 26
  • Bellis — Persistent challenger who repeatedly trains and spars with Reke, never closing the enormous gap between them. 27 31 35
  • Lan Xin — A boy Reke meets through an adventurer mission; Reke lays the foundation for his training and later entrusts him to the Wild Grasslands. 29 35
  • Goku — Initially a sought-after benchmark for strength, then a trusted companion and frequent sparring partner. 56 100 114
  • Gohan — Reke acts as a mentor-like figure, warning him of threats and later influencing plans for Gohan’s Beast Form training. 63 187
  • Dende — Heals Reke after his failed Super Saiyan 4 attempt and is involved in Reke’s efforts to strengthen Earth’s defenses. 63 66
  • Grand Priest — Investigates Reke’s anomalous existence, gives him tasks related to timeline preservation, and tests his resolve. 110 157
  • Pan — Saves Reke after his arrival in the GT timeline; their first meeting is marked by her wariness and his gratitude. 159
  • Kain — Founder of the Time Patrol, who explains the organization’s mission and offers guidance in exchange for mission points. 212 214
