Background & History
Early Life and Nuoding Academy
Tang San crossed from the Bashu lands to the Douluo Continent and began cultivating the Tang Sect’s Mysterious Heaven Skill while living in Holy Soul Village with his father, Tang Hao. As a child, he was described as sallow, emaciated, and messy-haired due to poor nutrition. 98
At Nuoding Academy, Yu Xiaogang accepted him as a disciple and arranged his first Soul Hunt. Tang San killed a 400-year Datura Snake with a Sleeve Arrow after Yu Xiaogang was poisoned, but he lost consciousness and instead acquired a century-old Mimosa Soul Ring. 151 The ring’s disappointing skill and the accompanying External Soul Bone left him frustrated, though he continued training. 152 153
With Flender’s assistance, Tang San later acquired a 670-year Ghost Vine Soul Ring as his second ring. He accepted Flender’s offer to attend Shrek Academy after graduating from Nuoding. 187
Shrek and the Soul Master Tournament
At Shrek Academy, Tang San remained committed to Yu Xiaogang’s harsh training because Yu promised to help him cultivate both Martial Souls without harming his body. 217 During the Soul Master Tournament, he exposed the Clear Sky Hammer while fighting Xie Yue and Hu Liena’s Martial Soul Fusion Skill, Demon Charm. 242
Tang Hao intervened when Xie Yue attempted to kill Tang San, then fought Martial Soul Hall’s Title Douluo to create an escape route for Tang San and Xiao Wu. 242 243 Lin Beiya eventually defeated Tang Hao, but Bo Saixi intervened and took Tang San, Tang Hao, and Xiao Wu to Sea God Island. 244 245
God Trials and Family Losses
Learning that Lin Beiya and Bibi Dong were divine inheritors, Tang San accepted the Sea God’s Red-level Nine Trials to gain the strength to oppose them. 249 250 He completed the first trial by climbing the required steps under the Sea God’s Light, then continued through successive trials over several years. 264 286
Tang Hao later revealed that Tang San’s mother was Ah Yin, the Blue Silver Emperor. Tang San awakened a connection with her and swore with Xiao Wu to gain enough strength to avenge their mothers. 250 251 286
Tang Hao was ultimately killed by Qian Renxue during Martial Soul Hall’s assault in Fasinuo Province. 301 When Tang San returned to Holy Soul Village, he found Ah Yin’s resting place empty after Martial Soul Hall had uprooted the Blue Silver Emperor. This drove his hostility toward Martial Soul Hall and Lin Beiya further. 302
Clear Sky Sect and Tang Sect
Bo Saixi directed Tang San to Tang Yuehua in Heaven Dou City, where he learned music to control his killing intent and emotions. 303 304 He then began recruiting allies for the faction required by his Asura God Trial, securing Dai Mubai and Ma Hongjun’s support. 306
Following the destruction of the Clear Sky Sect, the dying Tang Xiao named Tang San the sect’s next master and entrusted him with its legacy and ultimate arts. 307 Tang San established the Tang Sect in Gadar City, using its assassin reputation to gather wealth, influence, and more than a thousand disciples. 308 310
After helping Dai Mubai seize the Star Luo throne, Tang San was appointed State Preceptor, while the Tang Sect became Star Luo’s state religion responsible for eliminating Evil Soul Masters. 315
Final Trials and Divine Ascension
To complete the Asura God’s Eighth Trial, Tang San refined the Asura God Sword through blood sacrifice. He secretly caused the Evil Soul Master crisis in Star Luo and planned to use up to one hundred thousand lives to provide the necessary blood essence. 316 319
He reunited with Xiao Wu before seeking Soul Rings from Da Ming and Er Ming. Though he initially asked to “borrow” their rings, their refusal led to battle; both eventually became Soul Rings for his two Martial Souls. 324 325 333 336
Tang San completed the Sea God’s Eighth Trial by infiltrating the Twelve Palaces, then defeated the King of Slaughter with hidden weapons, Purple Demon Eye, Bodhi Blood, and the Great Sumeru Hammer. 332 333 334 He inherited the Asura God position, completed the Sea God’s Ninth Trial, and emerged as the holder of two divine positions. 335 336
Appearance
As a child in Holy Soul Village, Tang San had an ordinary appearance, messy hair, and a thin, undernourished build. 98 By the time he returned from Slaughter City, his appearance had changed enough that he believed people in Holy Soul Village would no longer recognize him. 302
- Often carries a storage Soul Tool at his waist. 150 334
- His forehead bears a trident mark after receiving the Sea God’s trial. 250
- His eyes turn purple when using the Purple Demon Eye. 242 334
- His Clear Sky Hammer manifests with increasingly high-grade Soul Rings, including red hundred-thousand-year rings. 325 333
Personality
Tang San is vigilant, pragmatic, and intensely focused on personal advancement. He was immediately cautious around Flender despite Yu Xiaogang’s introduction, and he consistently sought techniques, Soul Rings, allies, and divine inheritances that could improve his chances against stronger enemies. 187 217 249
His devotion to Tang Hao, Ah Yin, and Xiao Wu is central to his actions. Tang Hao’s death and Ah Yin’s disappearance hardened his desire for revenge against Martial Soul Hall and Lin Beiya. 302 336 337
His pursuit of strength also makes him calculating and ruthless. He built the Tang Sect through assassination and coercion, controlled Evil Soul Masters through blood poison, and arranged mass blood sacrifices to awaken the Asura God Sword. 310 316 319 He concealed his intention to take Da Ming and Er Ming’s Soul Rings despite Xiao Wu’s trust in him. 324 325
Abilities & Skills
Blue Silver Grass
Tang San’s first Martial Soul is Blue Silver Grass, strengthened through Soul Rings, bloodline awakening, and the Sea God’s trials.
- Moon-Shaming Flower-Closing — His first Soul Skill, acquired from the Mimosa Soul Ring; Tang San initially considered it useless. 151 152
- Bind — Granted by the 670-year Ghost Vine; restrains targets and improves the toughness of his Blue Silver Grass. 187
- Blue Silver Domain — Conceals his aura and lowers his sense of presence, allowing him to evade Ming Xin’s mental detection while entering Nuoding City. 302
- Blue Silver Emperor bloodline — Awakened through Ah Yin, enabling a mental connection with her Blue Silver Emperor form. 286
Clear Sky Hammer
Tang San’s second Martial Soul is the Clear Sky Hammer, inherited through his father’s line and used as his principal offensive weapon.
- Clear Sky Nine Absolutes — Uses techniques such as the Pierce Formula to layer strikes and break an opponent’s defenses. 312 333 334
- Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer — A hammer method Tang Hao taught him; it can stack up to 81 swings for overwhelming force. 288
- Ring Detonation — Detonates Soul Rings to convert their power into a temporary surge of soul power. 312 334
- Great Sumeru Hammer / Great Sumeru Sword — Applies the explosive principles of the Great Sumeru Hammer to his hammer or Asura Sword. Using it leaves him severely depleted once the Ring Detonation energy fades. 334 338 339
- Clear Sky True Body — Manifested against Dai Tianyu after Tang San used Ring Detonation to empower himself. 312
Mysterious Heaven Skill and Tang Sect Arts
Tang San retained and developed techniques from the Tang Sect of his previous world.
- Mysterious Heaven Skill — His foundational inner cultivation method. 98 149
- Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — A movement technique used for rapid evasions and close-range repositioning. 186 334 337
- Purple Demon Eye — Enhances perception and allows him to track fast-moving targets, including swarms of blood bats. 242 334
- Hidden weapons — Uses Sleeve Arrows, silver needles, Willow Leaf Darts, Dragon Whisker Needles, and Pear Blossom in Rainstorm. 151 242 334
- Bodhi Blood — Condenses his own blood and soul power into a decisive projectile; he used it to target the King of Slaughter’s heart. 334
Mimosa External Soul Bone
The Mimosa Soul Ring left Tang San with a rare External Soul Bone possessing the Mimosa’s passive “shyness” trait. 153
- Its defensive reaction activates when the area of the bone is stimulated, retracting and tightening as self-protection. 153
- Tang San cannot consciously control the ability. 153
- The bone protected him from the King of Slaughter’s attempt to strike his vital area, creating an opening for Tang San’s counterattack. 334
Dual Divine Power
After completing both divine inheritances, Tang San became the inheritor of the Asura God and Sea God positions. 335 336
- Asura Sword — A divine weapon capable of releasing space-distorting Asura Slash. 337
- Sea God Trident — Used for techniques such as the Sea God’s Tenth Style: Sun of the Sea and Indeterminate Wind and Waves. 337 338
- Dual tenth Soul Rings — Both Martial Souls received their own tenth Soul Ring after the Sea God’s Ninth Trial. 336
- Despite his dual inheritance, Tang San considered himself unable to defeat Lin Beiya, Bibi Dong, and Qian Renxue simultaneously. 336 338
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges — Storage Soul Tool gifted by Yu Xiaogang; Tang San named it after discovering its internal space. 150
- Hidden weapons — Includes Sleeve Arrows, needles, darts, Dragon Whisker Needles, and Pear Blossom in Rainstorm. 151 242 334
- Clear Sky Sect legacy Soul Tool — Given by Tang Xiao; contains the Clear Sky Sect’s inheritance and ultimate arts. 307

- Sea God Trident — Divine artifact wielded after completing the Sea God’s Ninth Trial. 336 337
