Yang Hao was born into a military family whose members had repeatedly died in battle. The Strength Clan framed his parents as Evil Soul Masters; the Shrek Inspectorate executed and beheaded them, while Yang Hao's older brother was secretly harmed and stripped of his Soul Bone. Yang Hao himself suffered damaged meridians and a Martial Soul corroded by evil power before being confined by the Strength Clan under the guise of protection 10 16 17.

For three years, he survived through practiced obedience, psychological suggestion, and deliberate acting. When Tai Wuji's family took him to the Star Dou Forest under the pretext of a soul-ring hunt, Yang Hao used prepared landmines to turn their attempted murder against them, then escaped with their resources 1 2.
