Tang San enters Shrek Academy as a control-type Soul Master whose poison-infused Blue Silver Grass and Tang Sect hidden weapons impress Zhao Wuji during their test battle. He credits his cultivation path to his teacher, Yu Xiaogang, and openly praises Yu as a renowned theorist. Tang San is startled to learn that Lin Yan also possesses Blue Silver Grass, particularly after seeing its healing applications. 1 2

An early misunderstanding surrounding Xiao Wu's recovery isolates Tang San from the other students, who side with Lin Yan. His hostility toward Lin Yan grows when Lin repeatedly outshines him in group matters, including identifying the Phoenix-tail Crested Serpent and directing the plan to capture it for Oscar. 3 16
