The lights in the room were already off. Zhang Tie stood by the window of his third-floor bedroom, slightly lifting a corner of the curtain to peer out into the courtyard. It was past midnight, and the garden lights were glowing one by one. A bodyguard sat quietly under the corridor, eyes wide open, keeping a vigilant watch over the Zhang Family grounds.

On the other side of the house, another person was on night duty, while two more were resting in a room next to the first-floor living room. These four were the bodyguards and sentries left behind by Zhang Tie's grandfather, Zhang Haitian, when he visited to check on Zhang Yang yesterday; they were reliable men who had served the Zhang Family for over a decade.

With Zhang Yang having just been kidnapped, having these men in the house certainly provided a sense of security.

Zhang Tie let the curtain fall, pondering the feasibility of hiring a few more bodyguards and sentries for his family. Most importantly, according to his brother, personnel from the Huaiyuan Prefecture Security Department had visited him in the hospital to take a detailed statement, in which he described the kidnapping process thoroughly. Combined with his brother's testimony and other clues, it shouldn't be difficult for "interested parties" to conclude
