Background

Mu Chen was born as the heir of the Hundred Spirits Royal Clan, son of Hundred Spirits King Mu Feng and Qing Yanjing. At twelve, he had already cultivated for seven years, though his father’s examination found his strength deliberately restrained for the coming Spirit Road Selection 1 2.

Qing Yanjing sealed Mu Chen's spiritual veins both to conceal him from the Buddha Ancient Clan and to prevent his talent from overwhelming his character. He nevertheless awakened the Futu Pagoda path, later discovering that its Nine-Petal Lotus marked the purity of his bloodline 3 57.

During the Spirit Road Selection, Mu Chen rose from a royal heir to the feared “King Mu.” He accumulated points by hunting spirit beasts, defeated rival Kings, challenged corrupt Sanctuary authority, and became closely tied to Luo Li. His massacre during the Spirit Road Blood Calamity prompted the Five Great Academies to halt the selection and expel him from the trial 8 17 45 47 48.

At Northern Heavens Spiritual Academy, Mu Chen rapidly became its foremost freshman and a leading Heaven Ranking expert. Mu Chen is confident, calculating, and unusually composed under pressure. During the Spirit Road judgment, he remained calm even as the gathered academies debated his punishment; he also uses deception, battlefield control, and targeted intimidation rather than relying solely on raw power 46 50 175.

He is generous toward companions and fiercely protective of those he accepts as his own. He shares resources with his squad, supports Jiu You’s evolution, aids Lin Jing without hesitation, and repeatedly intervenes for Luo Li 137 176 217.

Against hostile opponents, Mu Chen is ruthless and decisive. He killed Liu Ming to prevent future retaliation, destroyed Yang Hong through the Futu Pagoda, and refused mercy to enemies who sought to exploit or kill him 94 222 382.
