Background

Naruto grew up as an orphan ostracized as the “demon fox.” Ito Hirofumi was among his first genuine friends, sharing food with him and never looking down on him for his status. Naruto consequently treated Hirofumi’s disappearance with shock and fear. 2 66

Before entering the academy, Naruto defended a bullied Hyuga Hinata during a snowy night and was beaten for intervening. Hinata later recognized him as the person who had protected her and chose to stand beside him when civilians harassed them. 30
