Background
Qin Muye is the legitimate son of Qin Kaijiang, the Marquis of Southern Suppression, Grand Marshal of Barbarian Expulsion, and Protector-General of Southern Peace. While Qin Kaijiang commanded more than one hundred thousand elite soldiers on the southern frontier, Qin Muye remained in the capital as the Qin Family's heir apparent. 1 111
Before the story's main events, Qin Muye offered his marrow. The aftermath exhausted his essence, prevented his qi from regenerating, and stalled both his physique and soul, leaving him publicly regarded as frail and unambitious. 3 111 His circumstances changed when he gained access to a status panel and fate-based powers, including free attribute points obtained through changes to other people's fates. 3 121
He initially used a staged romance with Bai Yuji to convince Qin Yanying that they were involved, but the arrangement developed into a genuine marriage and shared child. 4 104 180 As his health and abilities recovered, he stopped accepting the role of a sheltered heir and began intervening directly in court politics, criminal cases, diplomacy, and military affairs. 8 79 111
Appearance
Qin Muye resembles Qin Kaijiang in his youth. His years of illness initially gave him the image of a weak young master, but intensive drills and the effects of Hundred Beasts Pills made his bearing markedly more rugged. 53 133
- Was physically weakened after the marrow offering, with depleted essence and stagnant cultivation. 3
- Practices a crane-form, tiger-claw stance to draw in morning spiritual energy and replenish Yang energy. 11
- Can endure extreme physical punishment; Southern Bright Li Fire only scorched a layer of his skin despite an attack that required Ying Shuang's armored Black Dragon to block. 265
- His strengthened physique is a defining combat asset, capable of overwhelming opponents through close-quarters force alone. 285
Personality
Qin Muye is calculating, observant, and highly adaptive. He reads political situations before committing himself, measures people by their value and motives, and is reluctant to make conclusions without enough information. 67 He frequently uses misdirection, false identities, and provocative diplomacy to seize initiative rather than confront stronger institutions on their terms. 79 105 116
Despite his scheming, he is guided by a personal sense of responsibility. He involves himself in dangerous matters when he believes people are being wronged, supports capable allies such as Feng Shuang, and is fiercely protective of Bai Yuji, Li Xingluo, and those under his protection. 97 120 195 He rejects Qin Kaijiang's attempts to dictate his future and ultimately chooses freedom over the authority and restraints attached to the Qin Family heirship. 134 142 197
