Background
Ao Jin was separated from her birth family and raised by the old Demon Emperor as his adopted daughter. Qiwù later reveals that the old Demon Emperor had taken her from another world and regarded her as a tool rather than family. 149 188
She is a Naga Dragon and the elder sister of Ao Tian. Their mother, Ao Xi, later explains that the Dragon Source is tied to the Dragon Transformation Pool and that Ao Jin's bloodline can soothe the Dragon Source's resistance. 229 260
Before her break with Demon Emperor Hall, Ao Jin was engaged to Qiwù and constrained by a sealed Dragon Pill. The seal prevented her from cultivating freely and left her vulnerable to the old Demon Emperor's control. 162 175
Appearance
Ao Jin is introduced as a gorgeous, noble woman in golden armor whose true form cannot initially be identified even by Mr. Mu. 145 She can assume a dragon form and displays scales, dragon qi, and dragon horns. 151 173
- Usually carries herself with formal, aristocratic poise. 145 229
- Wears golden armor during the expedition to the Ruins of the Gods. 145
- Can reveal dragon scales and transform into her true dragon form. 151 173
- Wields the Dragon Fang Blade in battle. 150
Personality
Ao Jin is fiercely proud of her dragon heritage and treats dignity as inseparable from strength. She reacts sharply to insults, resists being subordinated, and is particularly sensitive to the Dragon Race being treated as mounts or breeding stock. 167 170 261
Despite her arrogance, she is calculating and pragmatic. She manipulates Great Sage Temple personnel, recruits support through mutually beneficial arrangements, and carefully weighs the limits of her own strength before committing to the restoration of the Naga Dragon Race. 162 167 229
Her pride also conceals deep insecurity born from her treatment by Demon Emperor Hall and the Dragon Palace. Qin Muye's rescue from Demon Emperor Hall and his help refining the Myriad Demon Golden Pill restore much of the confidence and freedom she had lost. 188 198 204
