Background

Ancient decline

The Xiao Tribe was once one of the Eight Ancient Emperor Clans and the foremost of them, possessing a Dou Di bloodline, millions of descendants, and the vast Xiao Realm. Its ancestor and leader, Xiao Xuan, was a Half-Step Dou Di and one of the continent's Five Peak Sages. 440 641 743

As the clan's bloodline weakened, Xiao Xuan extracted most of its power into himself in an attempt to break through to the Emperor Realm. The attempt failed, and he was besieged by the Soul Clan's experts. To preserve the tribe, the Xiao Realm was submerged in the void and surviving descendants scattered across the continent in separate branches. 641 744 652

The Soul Clan pursued the fleeing bloodlines in search of the Xiao Tribe's Tou She Ancient God Jade. The Ancient Clan secretly obstructed the pursuit and helped conceal the Jia Ma Empire branch, which ultimately became the last confirmed remnant of the tribe's bloodline. 641

Wutan City resurgence

The Jia Ma Empire branch became known locally as the Xiao Family. It retained the goal of returning to the Eight Ancient Emperor Clans while rebuilding through alchemy, recruitment, and commercial expansion in Wutan City. 2

Under Xiao Zhan, the clan eliminated the Jialie and Aoba clans, absorbed their holdings, and became Wutan City's sole dominant power. It later rendered service during the Jia Ma Empire's war against the Cloud Departure Three Kingdoms, receiving Wutan City as its officially designated private territory. 9 647

The Ancient Clan honored its covenant with the Xiao Tribe by sending Gu Xun'er to be fostered with the Xiao Family. Xiao Zhan ordered that her origins remain secret, and Ancient Clan guards protected her from the shadows. 2 3 4

Restoration of the Xiao Realm

Xiao Yan awakened the Xiao Tribe Clan Mark in the Heavenly Tomb and summoned Xiao Xuan's remnant. Rather than merely accepting Xiao Xuan's preserved Emperor bloodline, Xiao Yan proposed resurrecting him and restoring the tribe itself. 635 636

After Xiao Xuan's return, Xiao Yan, Xiao Xuan, and Yao Lao moved Wutan City into the third level of the Heavenly Tomb, where the dense energy accelerated the tribe's cultivation. Xiao Xuan also restored the Eight Sages and set a six-year rebuilding target for the clan. 650 651

The tribe subsequently returned to the Central Plains and reopened the original Xiao Realm above the Tianquan Mountain Range in the Southern Region. The realm was successfully anchored with the aid of the Eight Sages, Yao Lao, and four elders of the Zhu Huo tribe. 661 662
