"Wedding anniversary? Tomorrow?" Ran Mouri's eyes widened at the unexpected words from her mother. "Then why aren't you hurrying up and giving it to him?"

A slender, exquisite gift box rested quietly in Eri Kisaki's hand. Judging by its size, it was easy enough to guess what was inside.

Perhaps it was the very tie Eri had been holding up against Hitoshi Saku that afternoon when they had run into each other.

"You went shopping with Mr. Saku, and you really were picking out a gift? Then hurry up and give it to Dad..." Recalling their conversation when they had met by chance, Ran Mouri felt anxious on Eri's behalf. "Dad has misunderstood this very badly."

Mori Kogoro had been quite well-behaved these past few days. He had not clashed with her over the restrictions, so there had to be a reason he had suddenly complained about not being allowed to drink in front of everyone today.

"I just... felt that he had been rather pitiful lately. And since you've been trying so hard, Ran, I thought I should forgive him a little and give him something to ease the tension." Eri secretly tightened her fingers around the gift. "It was only a moment of softness."

"If you won't give it to him, I'll speak up for you!" Ran Mouri grabbed the other end of the gift box without ceremony, pretending she was about to snatch it away. "There are things you'll regret if you don't say them out loud!"

Recently, she had gone through many things herself and developed feelings quite different from before.

The most important one was that if you did not speak honestly when you should, and missed the right moment, then even if it was only one night, finding another opportunity could become incredibly difficult.
