Background and History

Clear Sky Sect exile

Tang Hao was one of the Clear Sky Sect's “Twin Stars” and a grandson of former Sect Master Tang Chen. His relationship with Ah Yin, a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast and the Blue Silver Emperor, became a continent-wide scandal after Martial Soul Hall declared that he had betrayed humanity and murdered one of its Titled Douluo. 27

The controversy split the Clear Sky Sect. Tang Xiao defended his younger brother, while several elders blamed Tang Hao for bringing disgrace upon the sect and contributing to the death of the previous sect master. Under pressure from Martial Soul Hall and other factions, the sect permanently expelled Tang Hao and stripped him of the Tang surname. 28 29

Tang Hao initially mourned his failure toward his family and sect, but directed his hatred toward Martial Soul Hall. When Ah Yin offered to become his spirit ring and spirit bone to restore his reputation, he rejected the offer and chose her over his former home. 29 30

Break with the sect

Clear Sky Sect disciples and elders repeatedly attempted to kill or seize Ah Yin. Tang Hao responded with lethal force, using the Slaughter God's Domain and Clear Sky Hammer to slaughter and maim numerous sect disciples. 31

When the elders formed the Clear Sky Formation and severely injured Ah Yin, Tang Hao detonated several soul rings through the Great Sumeru Hammer technique, breaking the formation and defeating its users. 32 Believing Ah Yin dead after Tang Kun stabbed her, he killed Tang Kun and threatened the remaining elders before Tang Yuehua revealed that Ah Yin had survived. 32 33

Tang Hao ultimately married Ah Yin on a distant mountain peak. The failed attempt by Clear Sky Sect members to stop the wedding left Tang Kun dead and many disciples killed, maimed, or crippled. Tang Hao and Ah Yin thereafter became wanted criminals across the continent. 34

Life as a fugitive

Tang Hao and Ah Yin hid their identities, martial souls, and strength while repeatedly fleeing pursuers. By this period, Tang Hao had reached level 89, while Ah Yin had not yet reached the maturity phase of her human transformation. 45

Ah Yin later gave birth to their son, Tang San, in an isolated valley. Tang Hao named the child Tang San, nicknamed Xiao San, and killed the midwife immediately after the birth. 46

Martial Soul Hall eventually surrounded their home. Tang Hao held off several Soul Douluo and later confronted Qian Xunji directly, refusing to surrender Ah Yin or their child. 46 47

Ah Yin's sacrifice and aftermath

Following Ah Yin's loss, Tang Hao went berserk upon seeing Li Pu consume the Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone. He detonated his first four soul rings in battle, used the Slaughter God's Domain and Great Sumeru Hammer, and fought against Qian Xunji, Chrysanthemum Douluo, Ghost Douluo, and other Martial Soul Hall forces. 49

His victory over stronger opponents turned him into a notorious figure. Much of the continent concluded that he had inherited the legacy of the Evil God or God of Slaughter, while the Clear Sky Sect was widely suspected of being connected to Slaughter City. 50 53

Tang Hao later hid in Holy Soul Village under the name Zhang Richao and raised Tang San as Zhang San. Though initially suspicious of his son's unusual knowledge, he accepted Tang San's claim of reincarnation and supported his ambitions against Martial Soul Hall. 53 54

At a later point, Tang Hao was crippled by Li Pu. He nevertheless continued to act in secret on Tang San's behalf, but could not openly appear because his distinctive Clear Sky Hammer would expose him. 169 283

Tang Hao is portrayed as a large, intimidating man whose imposing build sharply contrasts with Ah Yin's refined appearance. 30

Tang Hao is fiercely devoted to Ah Yin and treats any threat against her as a threat against his own life. He rejects offers to return to the Clear Sky Sect if they require abandoning her, declaring that he would oppose the entire world for her sake. 30 31

His protectiveness frequently becomes uncontrollable rage. When Ah Yin is harmed or believed dead, he loses restraint, turns on relatives and sect elders, and threatens extreme violence against anyone he deems responsible. 32 33

Despite his expulsion, Tang Hao initially feels guilt toward the Clear Sky Sect and insists that he will protect it from the shadows. Later, after Ah Yin's sacrifice and his battle with Martial Soul Hall, he expresses no regret for his actions and focuses on raising Tang San. 29 31 53
