During his previous battle with Baros, he had luckily survived after Baros's Death Energy Bomb sent him hurtling into space.

But perhaps it had been fate, or perhaps it had been the inevitable course of the universe—Cooler had been unbelievably lucky enough to drift into the Cosmic Graveyard.

A computer chip within the Cosmic Graveyard had enhanced its own energy through prolonged exposure to energy. It then absorbed matter from the universe as fuel, gradually forming into the massive mechanical planet known as Big Gete Star.

The dying Cooler drifted onto that planet and fused with its main computer, taking control of the world and transforming himself into Metal Cooler.

Not only that, but after becoming Metal Cooler, his strength had increased tremendously. He was no longer the same as before.
